Still experiencing possible 'boost' problems, PLEASE HELP anyone.

Ok, I replaced the wastegate the other day with a Lindsey Racing Dual Port Wastegate and Manual boost enhancer. After I did, the car felt NOTICEABLY different. Like the boost would throw in at more like 3300 in first and nearly 3000 flat in second. Yet these problems still remain...
-it will sound like the car is almost 'stalling' when say I have cruise control set at 3K RPM in 5th gear, and we're on the interstate and the terrain starts to go up (i start going uphill) the car of course starts giving it a little more gas I suppose, and the boost gauge rises a little and the car kinda has a 'stalling' effect to it or jerking... I duno what it is, it almost seemed to eliminate when I stopped the car at a gas station and turned the boost controller up 2 1/2 turns.

Also I duno about this, but if I start to just floor it, in say 4th or 5th (more than others) and build up boost and am going at say 4K+ and just LET off the the gas, the exhaust kinda goes pop pop pop and the car jerks a tad and slows down. NOT like it does when your clutch is going bad, I know that feeling... ;-)

Craig,

Did all of these problems start after you added the manual boost controller?

May I suggest removing it and seeing if the problem goes away?

Couldn't have put it better myself. Did you try the chip change yet Craig??

Black smoke DEFINATELY means too rich, thats why when you floor it, the car 'stalls'. There's not enough air getting in your mix to actually burn all the fuel, and the unburned fuel comes straight out the pipe...... it has to go somewhere.

Do you have a MAF on the car? The settings of that could be out.

Have you tried adjusting the Throttle sensor. I know that when I replaced my throttle cable, and the adjustment went screwy, it definately messed around with the performance. The DME couldn't cope with not knowing what your right foot is doing.

Danno on the Rennlist board gave out this tip for the adjustment- "First step is to make sure your throttle-plate completely closes, but doesn't bind against the side of the throttle body. Then adjust the TPS so it clicks closed, and clicks again when the throttle is barely opened. Third, disable the idle-stabilizer with the test-port (Short B and C on the test port, which is between the strut and the windshield on the drivers side). Adjust so that idle-speed is correct with the stabilizer disabled. I had to open mine up about 1.5 turns. "

Try those, and see if anything helps.

Mike
