Hey, I had posted this sighting before but what the H***! I was traveling on the NJ Turnpike and its about 10:30pm and I'm heading to work and I'm dazed from driving and somthing told me to look behind me and I saw these big round head lights, so of coarse I said 944! It was coming up on me fast! I was doing about 70mph. He had to be doing like 80-90mph. He drives right up next to me then drops back and pulls behind me and then back up next to me. It was a 944na, I was dark and I think it was like a brownish gold with black fuchs wheels. So, I basically said F*** it! I floored it and basically blew his a$$ AWAY! HE HE HE! I had to be doing over a hundred easy! I was so impressed with how well my car did I had to wash her the next day! Thats my story!

Cool

My best day of 'flashing' was on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. I was heading north when a convoy of Porsches was heading south. There had to be about 30 cars, mostly 911's but 6 or 7 944's and 951's, 3 or 4 928s, and some very special looking cars in the mix too. My lights and horn were goin off for like ever it seemed, as were most everycar i was passing. There were alot of bad azz bimmers on the road too... turns out they were having a rally heading in my direction.... ummm i beat everyone that day, 250 miles of parkway in 5 hours.. includes detours and hard to get around fat RVs and stops!!! Damn I love that road.

Just got home for lunch and my wife called and said there was a red 944 parked in the mall parking lot where she works. What? I thought I was the only red 944 in town. So I jumped in my car and zoomed down there. Sure enough, parked in front was a late model RED 944 with dark tinted windows. It was a 944 from Florida and so I remain the only red one in town. The owner was no where in sight. Oh well...until next time.

Sorry to intrude...I saw a grey 944 parked outside a National Coney Island last night in Royal Oak, Michigan. I'm wondering if the owner visits this board.....if so, I'm the owner of the 928 that parked next to you!

Talking about good "flashes" reminded me of a time i was driving my Fathers 1989 Carrera 4. Was listening to radio... of course singing along. A car came up on me and slowed to my speed. Two girls in the car. The passenger began singing the same song I was... and here it comes... flashed me! Nice memory... surprised I forgot about it. Of course it was about 10 years ago... yikes! Bet they don't look as nice any more

Oh and one other sighting. Was traveling 93 south wednesday morning at about 6:30am. Came up on another 1983-1985 944 black. Young guy did not see me until I had passed him. If you are on this board... hey the metalic silver 944 was me...

About 3 weeks ago i stopped for red on my way home and a brandnew 911T stops next to me. I saw this car many many times before in the city i work. It was always parked at the same location. Window goes down, of course i do the same. 'Nice car, son... First Porsche??' I answer: 'Yep, first car ever, maybe i'll someday end up in something as nice as yours..' 'Well, at least you started off right... '88 Turbo?', he asked. 'Yep, it is'. 'Wanna do a little sprint?' We both laught said goodbye and waited a bit more for the red to finally turn green. At this part of town, just outside of it, there is a stretch of about 2 miles that runs right up to the onramp for the highway, so i was thinking: 'He's not gonna do a real sprint at me?' But i wanted to show off a bit (of course) and slammed my foot down trying to accelerate as fast as possible. Just as my turbo kicks in in first gear, his does the same.. Well, i can't tell you the sound that went through the car and my bones but it was awesome! The 911 suddenly became very loud and was houwling like hell, it just blasted away leaving me behind. As i shift into 2nd he is already a couple of yards away, so i was thinking, maybe if he's a terrible shifter i might pick up just a bit. No way! The 911 just kept on going and suddenly there was a LOUD bang a bit of flames popped out of the double exhaust. I just couldn't beleive what i just saw, heard but above all FELT. That car just left me behind as if i didn't have 250hp at all.

When he was approaching the next red light (before the onramp) i could just see a couple of flames blast out of the exhaust as he was downshifting. I kept on going a bit to try and reach him before that light became green. I made it, he already had his window down and said: It's not fair, is it? Tiptronic vs. manual?
I just couldn't stop laughing. I looked in my mirrors as cars were approaching. The guy right behind me in some sort of Peugot just couldn't hide his smile, put his window down and said something like 'Jesus, you guys are CRAZY!!' (it was in dutch actually). Lights turned green and the 911 accelerated onto the highway, so did i. We kept doing the same speed as that part of highway is known for it's speedtraps. But when the speedlimit was gone and we got a 4-lane wide highway he just blasted off again giving a quick horn-signal. I have to look this guy up again, as i know where the car is parked always.
I just keep dreaming that someday i have a 911T... it must be great

Ok, check it out! I know this is not a flash but, was pretty damn cool! You guyz can hang me later for this and what I did! Anyway, today, i was driving home on the NJ turnpike and I'm at like exit 8 going to exit 5. I driving in the middle lane doing about 70mph. I look in my rear view and I see this RICER racing up on me in the middle lane REALLY FAST! It was a honda all tricked out and stuff! This dude was MOVING! He was doing atleast 140! I cant describe it! Anyway this guy is moving so fast he s gain up on me real quick and he is still in the middle lane! So, I start to **** my PANTS! I didnt want to move and throw him off so he would hit! So, I just stayed there and as soon as he makes it close enough, BOOM, there was two of them! One right behind the other! They had split and went around me at the same time! They SHOOK my car at 70mph! then as soon as they passed me bang right into the center lane again, I was like cool! So, as stupid as I am, I chased them down.......go easy on me! I dropped it into 4th and floored it! I ran it up too 6000rpm then hit for fifth gear! I was already doing like,.. i think 110 maybe more! I kept my eyes on the road. I ran their a$$es DOWN! That was the fastest I have ever drove my car!i had hit like 140 - 150. I was scared as all hell! When I passed them, i glanced reall quick into the rea view and saw a smile, what a feeling! I was so immpressed with my car! I love it! I had to take the next exit just to hide out just in case i was draggin cops. after a half hour I headed home. There were not that many cars on the road at that time, suprisingly! I DROVE IT LIKE I STOLE IT! YEHHHHHHHH!

I was at a Sheetz gas station in Lititz on Friday night around 8PM getting something to eat. When I came out I was walking toward my car and as I get in I notice a great looking late 80's Carrera backing out of its spot. I quickly get in and close the door and am watching it as close as can be. It drives slowly behind me and I turn my head and as he drives off he gives off a wave. I didn't get mine off quick enough because I was in shock of how great his car looked. It was like a greyish brown type color. Amazing looking!

I hope I see that car again.

Glad to see not all Boxster owners are snobs. Unfortunately here is one who is. waiting in line to pull onto Route 9 Westboro, MA this morning. Silver boxster comes by with the top down. I smile and wave. the touchhole looks straight ahead. No response. Probably cashed in his internet stock before the internet bubble burst. Probably will sell the car in a few years. Good for us.

But then as I pull on to route 9, there is a white 911 C2 waiting to make a turn. I give him the thumbs up. He smiles. A true enthusiast. Not some idiot.

About 6 years back when I was in high school I had a Volkswagen Rabbit diesel. I pulled up late on friday evening beside a 964 Carrera 2. I figured I'd give my friend who was with me a good laugh so I start reving all 52 horses in my VW Diesel. The guy in the Carrera 2 looks over and I look at him seriously and then look straight ahead keeping the whole act up. I finally here that aircooled 6 rev a little. He takes off and it sounded so sweet. Not sure if he got on it hard or not because the Rabbit was so slow. Sounded like he took it to maybe 5K RPM. I used to tease people like that just to hear their engines. Corvettes were always a lock to take that bait. I'd always be lauging if I ever pulled beside them and they'd know I was a moron.

Not all boxters are snobs! I was stuck in traffic and I was trying to get out of my lane and get into the next. About 6-7 cars back in my lane I saw this guy in a boxter he was trying to get out of this lane too. so he got into the next lane and drove up shuting off this other guy trying to get out, he was like 2 cars back. well the boxter had stopped just before me to let me out! It was cool! So we rode that lane together most of the way up!

Okay. Although I've seen many cars this one I had to report because I wonder if anyone else does this.... I pull up to a new 911 TT, beautiful green with the aero kit and a chick is driving. Cool! But then I noticed something wierd, does she have a huge fur coat laying on the seat? Wait a second that's not a fur coat, that's a huge dog, a bull mastive i believe! -And it's now jumping all around in the car on the nice camel leather seats! -So I wonder if her husband knows she gives the dog rides or maybe they have big $ so not to worry? Anybody give there dog rides regularly? I know they like it but... what about the slobber and the hair you never get out of the carpet, not to mention scratching the leather!? BTW, she managed to go about 60 in 80 mph traffic. The semi tractors were on her tail all the way!

- Maybe only cruising at Spring Break, if I had a dog! Wait a minute, why would i want a dog in the seat, that's one less chick unless he lays in the hatch!

One more thing,... this is funny,... this post went from this format:
Quote:
Date/time: 03-01-02 5:45pm
Location: NY State Thruway to Rt. 287, Franklin Lakes, NJ
Car: Black 944S with silver badges, NJ plates.
Driver: middle-aged guy
Type of 'flash': thumbs up / thumbs up
Comments: Clean 944, drove together till my exit.

to this format:
Quote:
I meant to post this a while ago when it happened but now Z-man has jogged my memory...
I was running my usual afternoon errands... zipping around San Pedro in my silver baby and I pull into my favorite Italian grocery. As I parallel park my car this old guy (I'm in my forties... an old guy to most of you I presume, so I don't mean any disrespect) anyway this guy gets out of his car, takes a long look at my car and as I'm getting out starts walking towards me. At this point I'm thinking uh-oh maybe I did some maneuver out on the boulevard that this gentleman did not approve of. But instead he keeps looking at my 944 and then says to me "you know I bought a 356 new from the dealer years ago and I used to drive it up to Mammoth ever weekend doing eighty all the way there and back... never should have sold that car." I said something lame like yea they sure make nice cars and we talked for a little while then went our separate ways.

Pulled into the Chevron station to gas up and check the air in the tires... old guy in a red 911 wearing a Hawaiian shirt (I was wearing a Hilo Tee-shirt) pulls in... He gives a sideways glance at my 944 and goes about gassing up... I try to make eye contact but he's focused on his car... his car is in immaculate condition... my car runs great but has more chips than Frito-Lay. He opens the trunk (hood? bonnet?) and starts looking at his engine, at this two of the attendants come over to check it out, I wander over to take a peek but the guy didn't see me... Maybe he was just too into his car to notice me, anyway if he was a snob I didn't want to push it so I took off.

There are allot of Porsches in Los Angeles but there are also allot of snotty bsatards however I try to wave when I can. There are four or more 944's in San Pedro however we are usually passing each other with such speed we don't have time to wave!

BTW I have met some very nice 911 guys here at the Pelican BBS so I definitely am not implying that 911 folks are snobs.

Sorry, if I used you as an example

Man, what a let down. I got dissed today by a fellow 944...some punk-a$$ Navy pilot in an S2 Cab. I even slowed down and changed lanes to let him get up beside me. When I gave him the wave, he just looked at me, looked back at the road, and took off.

That's a first. His other car must be a Boxster. What a pri
