Wow… kinda’ the same yesterday happened to me… but with a relatively new 911 (not sure if it was air-cooled or water-cooled).

I was travelling home on the MA Pike, (during commuting hours) and as I was approaching the I-495 ramp, I saw a black 911 come onto the Pike. I ended up behind him in the left lane, and when he saw me behind him, he pulled over into the middle lane. I presumed it was so that he could give me a wave or a thumbs-up etc.. I certainly didn’t think that he was moving over for me to pass him.

I pulled up next to him, and I gave him a thumbs-up. Instead of getting a thumbs-up or wave back, he accelerated very quickly and then cut in front of me, as if to impress me. (I was impressed, but that’s beside the point.) I got the impression that he was showing me what a “real” Porsche is like.

I stayed behind him, and occasionally he would accelerate quickly, as if to impress me or taunt me to follow him.

As we got closer to my exit ramp, I pulled into the middle lane, and rather briskly (but safely) accelerated up the middle, and then through traffic, to my exit. I wonder if he was surprised at how quickly my S2 accelerated.

In hindsight, the driver of the 911 may not have been the owner. I recall that it did not have a license plate on the rear, but rather a temporary paper taped in the back window. Hmm… either the car was stolen, or the “lot boy” from a local dealer took it for an extended drive!!

FWIW, I did get a bit of a smile from the guy before he accelerated (or maybe it was a smirk? Hmmm…).

I recently changed job locations and now work in West County area of St. Louis. For you that are not familar with the Ladue, Town & Country, Huntleigh area it is the semi-old money area. Old Money = Clayton, new money = Wildwood/Chesterfield.

Anyways, I was on my way home from work driving my '84 944na. And spotted not 1, not 2, but 3 boxters. Only one of which was being driven by anyone who understood the car. One was a kid home from college and the other was a manufactured blond arm candy type.

None of which wanted to play, wave, nod, or even look at me. I guess my vintage p-car is too lowly for them. Not a 356 and more than 10k miles. Either way, MINE'S PAID FOR!.

Hi,
Around where I live, I kept seeing a red 944. Driver was a man probably around his 40's or so. One day while driving to work, I saw him. I was checking out his car (nice paint job) and just smiled, he smiled back. Then my friend moved to a street that is in the same block where I live and where I kept seeing the 944. So, I decided to drive further down the street where he lives. To my surprise, at the end of the street I saw the 944 parked on the driveway, and two houses down from there, was another black 944. So far there are 3 944's in the same block. I was shocked. By the way, I live in covina California and I have seen other 944's in the area. total of 6 944's.

Lets see...

I took fty999 (chris) for a ride in my car @ hershey..3 porsche's approaching opposite direction.

First one: i had my fogs on...he flashed me and i pulled the stalk...which obviously does nothing when the fogs are already on. guy was driving a 911...maybe an SC...something around that time period.

second: i turned the headlights on, then brought it back to fogs so that the headlights were still up and flashed the next 911...he flashed back...

third: flashed a 911 (newer), no flash back...oh well

Hanging around at hershey i talked to so many friendly porsche owners...was awesome.

I flash/wave to people up around me...they just drive right on by.

also at hershey..i was at applebees where the 911 guys met up...i was chillin with joe jackson and his friend by joe's 951...3 younger guys hanging by a 951...
2 993TT's and a 964T drive by in the parking lot..slowly...they look at us..and keep driving...no wave...nothing...the only not-nice 911 owners ive encountered = them..or not friendly is maybe a better way of putting it.

I was behind joe's 951, waiting to make a left at a light...when a guy in a 968 pulls up next to me and honks and gives me a thumbs up. I tell him there's a bunch of porsche guys at applebees...he tells me there's 32 968's up at the Hilton...i was just like googooga ga ga...heeh...

Another time I was sitting at a light near me when a guy in a 930 slat nose pulls up next to me/behind me...i give him a wave...he waves back...

It really seems like the guys in the older cars wave back more than the ppl in newer cars..

Thats all for now

Pretty cool how, despite large differences in the $ values of our P-cars, we're all still family sometimes!

Saw a recent or new watercooled 911, champagne, this past thursday. I turned and followed briefly; we stopped at a light, he saw me behind, smiled gave a hearty wave and we parted ways. There's a chick in a bright yellow boxster that keeps dissing me...whatever.

Comments: I was southbound, he was northbound, we each waved madly. It's way too exciting to see another 944 out here. Sometimes I think I'm actually living on the set of "The Fast and the Furious" in Willimantic... so it's just giddy to see fellow 944 owner. Obviously he felt the same way.

While in Aruba the past week I saw only one P-car, a midnight blue 968 convertible. I was driving a Diahatsu Kiore, looks like a Mini. Gas is very expensive, so the rice burner kept expenses down!

Gotta keep it alive.

Today pulling into the high school (in the morning), there was a 931 leaving...I was just pulling in (halfway through turn) so I just honked and looked/smiled...he smiled and nodded back.

I was happy for at least the first 10 mins of school before I realized I hadda learn...hehe.

Car: 1999 911 Carrera, red with Aerokit
Type of Flash: 2 flicks of high beam and 1 flash of fog lights

I took a long awaited cruise in our new red 928S4 downtown to turn some of the ladies' heads and get some gawks and this 911 pulled out from Horton Plaza shopping mall in front of me. I flashed twice and once fogs and pulled up to his side, he smiled, waived and asked what year my car was. I said '87 and he said, "That's the cleanest 928 I've ever seen!!!" We got separated in traffic and I got a glimpse of 3 hot blonds and a red Ferrari 360 Modena next to me. My cousin yells out the window to rev his motor up and he did...up to about 8 grand!!! Those cars can scream!!!!!!!! So naturally I rev its German counterpart. Half the population on Market looks at us like we are gonna race!!!!! That was probably one of the most *****in' moments of my life during a cruise!!!!!
