Raleigh-Durham, NC/UNC campus I saw a white early-model 944 goin the other way. I waved, but didnt get his attention, because I was in the back seat of a minivan(I know, I know, dont say it....). |
Perhaps a little off-topic but the thing I love about Porsche guys is that they appreciate all "real" cars (but are of course fanatic about Porsches).
Exiting I-10 in Pensacola FL in my rusty 1966 Corvair, I pulled up to a beautiful 928 at a light. He rolled down his electronic window and commented, "awesome car!" Right back at you! I love the irony at having a rear engine, air cooled Chevy and a front engine, water cooled Porsche. It drives the 911 guys crazy. |
I saw a beautiful 2002 911 turbo last night parked at a hotel here in town. It has to be the best car I have ever seen in person.
|
Saw an early 968 on KnightRider a few days ago. Yeah, they still keep repeating David Hasselhof's finest trick :)
Ohh, and by the way, i can remember a few months ago on the A-Team (yeah, they KEEP repeating that as well, my little bro loves it). An N/A 944 pre-85 version. Had something to do with a kidnapping and the 944 was the main topic of the story. It did survive though. No strange 'inventive' BA stuff attached/detached from the car to make it a 2000ton tank ;) |

Here's my latest flash: Date: 06-08-02 Time: 2:30pm Place: Rt. 46E in Parsippany, NJ Car: Black 928 Flash: He passed me, I caught up to him at a light: we rolled down the windows, I said, "Nice car!" he said, "Thanks!" Then I told him his driver's side brakelight was out! (I was driving my 944S2) -Zoltan. |
Date: 6-10-02
Time: 12:30 p.m. (Lunch Break) Place: Fairview, PA Car: Silver 944 (mid 80's) Driver: late 40's Flash: I'm pulling into subway and the guy is stopped a few cars back waiting for the light to turn green. He's sitting right in front of the entrance to subway. He looks right at me, I give the thumbs up and NOTHING!. He was looking right at me!! He even looked over my ride... '88 Alpine White 944. What's up with that... |
In our red 924...
Yesterday, on the way into town(Seattle)...played back & forth on I405 North with a red Boxster S cab. We both waved. At I10 they went east and we peeled off west. Few minutes later we were passed by a white 4S, crossing Lake Washington. We both turned off on Madison in town; he went uphill, we went down. In Benaroya Hall underground garage, a 'bronze' carrera three stalls away but noone there before we left. Fine day, ... all the P.cars out and about. |
Bringing back this thread:
I saw SIX P-cars on the way to work this morning, which is a rarity for me. Lots of Porsches in my area, they just must take other routes to work! Anyway, here were the six: Silver Boxster, Black 928, Black 944 n/a, Blue 996, Silver 993, Silver 911 Cabrio (964 series). Two of them I got a flash out of, so lemme update this list: Flash #1: Date: 06-21-02 Time: 07:55am Location: Berdan Ave, Wayne, NJ Car: Black 928 Flash type: wave / wave back. Comments: I think we 'flashed' each other back on 08-22-01 (Yeah, I keep track of all my flashes in a spreadsheet!) Flash #2: Date: 06-21-02 Time: 08:20am Location: NY State Thruway, near exit 14 Car: Blue 996 Flash type: Thumbs up / thumbs up back and BIG smile! Comments: I love it when the new car owners flash! Shows that not all 996 / 986 owners are snobs! He drove away driving his car pretty hard: hope to see him at a DE.... KEEP the FLASH ALIVE! Have you flashed another car today? -Zoltan. |
TWO:
Driving on rt. 90 in western NY I passed a burgandy 944, late type. Shortly there-after, at the split for 90 through Albany a red 911 approached from behind. We weaved somewhat irresponsibly for a few miles and went our different ways. I think he was upset that I was leading the whole way. |
tre cool
Time:Dark pm
loc:Ceritos, Ca on South st. from UBOC to 605frwy type:wave, gawk, dullwitted laughter(from me) I roll up to a stoplight, look to my left and a almost identical gold 944 pulls up next to me! Only diff was he had cookie cutters and my hood is being upfixened. (simular incident happened last year at Fed Ex in Signal Hill, identical(but yet another) gold 944 pulls in next to me. The rims really make a difference.) I was about to do a little drag with him but a $@^@%&#^%&@%^!%^ cop... er...I mean a peace officer turned right (rear to us now) at the next stop light up. I still tore ass, but shut her down when the K-band started blurping. guess the other guy was yello...er I mean civic minded. Still a rightous flash! |
This is going to make you sick guys but here in Orange county California a P-Car is like a Honda Civic in most other places. They are a dime a dozen one of the biggest reasons I did not buy a Boxster was the fact that every other person is driving one!!! . I have been at a stop light where each corner had a a boxster...No joke it is sick! I will see at least a half a dozen turbos on a weekend....But during the week Boxsters and 996's dime a dozen that does not include all of the other Porsche's that are around... Take the Mercedes and BMW off the road and there are no other cars... on the road...I think more BMW's than anything.... If you drive for 20 minutes you are sure to have 10 P-Car sightings. I have been around the US and it is just sureal here.... Most of these jokers have fat leases....

Quick wave to a black/black turbo 944 as we both crested a hill from opposite directions. Not enough time for a flash, but both grinned and waved. I was just leaving a section of twisties and he was about to arrive.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...amingdevil.gif Sweatin in the great northeast.

1989 911 Turbo Exchanged waves, then drove together side by side for about a mile. Ultimately, we both were heading for the same place - the local Porsche garage. AFJuvat |
996 and 944 flash
Date: 6-24-02
Time: about 4pm Location: Cleveland, OH Car: 2001 996 Twin Turbo - Silver 1987 944 S Black Driver: The 944 S was one I had been seeing parked close to work for over a year, but never seen the driver. Probibially in his early 30s, immaculate car! The 996 TT was cool! I always wave to 996s but rarely do they notice me. But, coming out of Case Western Reserve University's deck was a 996 TT I had seen parked many days. He waved and said he had a 944 when he first got out of med school. Then he got the TT. The turbos on that sound AWESOME, esp. in an enclosed parking deck! |
I see alot of P-Cars! To many to list. I just saw another 944na in my area. Some chick was driving it. The car was brown! Didnt look good at all. I saw a couple of days ago a yellow 951 while racing home again with my bud. He was driving his 924 turbo.

4:00pm(-ish)
I-5Fwy Sunday the 22 or 23 Went to Fresno for the weekend, on way back, I just make it over the Grapevine on I-5 making about 95 m.p.h., a '70's type Boxter gets on the onramp about the same time I hit some traffic and the white knuckle grip my woman had on my throat began to take effect. I pulled up beside him, we exchange Heya's and waves, my passenger passes his the look of "I'm gonna die!" SmileWavy She didn't tho. I was hoping he would show me what it had as I accelerated, but I guess I'm the dork for speeding.[nbr][nbr]http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/a_frusty.gif |
Yesterday afternoon, after fixing the Tensioner pully and replacing
the timing belt ('79, 924) I took her for a test drive east of Renton (WA). Saw a red 911 Carrera; we both stopped for BBQ (at Bodacious Bill's); traded notes; both tried to recruit the other for PCA, but we both belong already. |

Yesterday, Hwy 54, saw a girl in a black 944. Waved, and she drove away with a wierd look on her face. I guess she didnt realize I was checking out her car, not her.
