He came up from the beach and I told him nice car and that it was in really nice cond. He said thankls and asked if that was my 944 and it turned out he was gnna start to autoXing and that he loves the 944 line and he also had own an older M3...turned out to be a really nice guy.....kinda wierd to find some one not pompous driving a porsche on LI NY. There used to be a guy in my town witha red 944 who was an X conman and acted like some rich big shot who used to get his car serviced free becuase hed never return to pay the bill...I think he got cuaght stealling and was put in jail..havent seen him or the car in over a year..he was one of those guys who had a big black bra and wore those avaition glasses to drive ...... About a week or two ago I was at Dunkin Donuts purchasing my usual(medium coffee extra light cream with three sugars). On my way back to the car I noticed a late 911 carrera. I get into my car and I'm sippin my coffee staring at it through the rear view mirror wondering what the driver is like. I had this feeling that he was a porsche fanatic. Before I could even seek him out, he had already found me. While sipping on my coffee and drooling over his car as I ever so spaced out stare at it through rear view mirror, he is already standing right next to my car asking me what year. I gave him the whole nine yards about my car. He ended up missing his car all over again. I got the impression that he kinda got over his car until he started talking about it. He was going on and on! I was like DAMN! But, he has a 911 now and he is happy with it. He told me that he spent like $1800 to have his clutch fixed! I was like thats pretty good:) But, if he did it him self it would of costed him like 700 beans instead. He said he didn't have time. OH WELL! He said it cost like $3000 for a clutch job on his 911? Is that true? Parts and labor is more for 911? OH WELL!

Time: 1:45 pm Location: Mass Pike (I-90), between Framingham and Natick exits Car: Light blue 80's Carrera Flash: Wave Notes: As I was on the on-ramp, I noticed the aforementioned vehicle pass by on the highway. I caught up to him, and ended up behind him. We travelled like that for a couple of miles or so (I could see that he saw me in his rear-view mirror), and eventually, he pulled over into the center lane. I think he did so just to let me pass... not so much to make contact, because when I got up next to him, he wasn't already looking over... I had to hang next to him for a few seconds. He seemed to be surprised when I waved. Nonetheless... he waved back. The brotherhood is still alive... :) Jim |

the day i bought my 944 i was driving it home and saw a green slant nose i honked and he honked and then i pulled up next to a 928 and we had a little chat:)
but yesterday i was driven out of my neighborhood and a brand new silver boxster drove past me with a lady driven i honked and waved and she just gave me a dirty look:confused: |

Boxster chat
a bit OT, but not really...
Had a chat with a Boxster owner this weekend about the wave thing and the reputation that Boxster owners have for snubbing everyone. He said always waved at other Boxster owners:rolleyes: I explained that if he gets a wave from a 944 or other P-car, it's the nice thing to do to return the wave. Otherwise, he'd be enforcing the stereotype. A real nice guy, and it was interesting to hear it from his perspective. He admitted that many Boxster owners probably didn't realize what older P-cars looked like:( |
I wave to Boxters as I pass them on the track in my lowly 944T.

Latest flash: 29 July 2002 Car: Guards Red 911 3.2, black Fuchs, no tail. Where: Morris Road, near Blue Bell, PA. What: He flashed the headlights... FIRST! :D Nice when P-Car owners appreciate the tastes of the driver more than the location of the engine. ;) |

approx 12:30pm I'm comming home and There's a 944 parked on my street, with the driver just sitting there. I parked and walked up and it was...SO-CAL! we chatted and he left...10 min later another 944 pulls up and I wave at him. It was ScottMandu! two flashes in 10 min! wahoo! oh, wait...I invited them over...does that count? |

Time: 8:20 am Place: 322 E in Franklin, PA White turbo, on a 2 lane road saw him ahead of me separated by several cars. I worked my way up to him, and he saw me and waited. Waved, and rolled at a light said hi through the rain. He complimented my car (which was very polite, his is much nicer). Out of state plates, there aren't many Porches in rural depressed Western PA. Really brightened my morning drive to work on a very dark wet day. |
