Save the flash! Post your flash here!

Let's try something new here, and see how long it will last. It would be cool if this thread could stay at the top of the posts: so keep it going! Post your flash - sightings (when you recognize another Porsche on the road by flashing your lights, waving, thumbs-up...etc, and they respond!) Doesn't have to be only a 944 flash: all P-car owners are part of the brotherhood! Just post positive responses only. Follow the format below. So, I'll start it off with the first flash-post: Date/time: 03-01-02 5:45pm Location: NY State Thruway to Rt. 287, Franklin Lakes, NJ Car: Black 944S with silver badges, NJ plates. Driver: middle-aged guy Type of 'flash': thumbs up / thumbs up Comments: Clean 944, drove together till my exit. Thanks! -Zoltan. --------------------------------- My Gallery:

951- Saw a Purple 944 cab and flashed and he flashed a smile and a wave. Passed a new 911 Turbo on 315 and waved and he flicked me off!! wtf? Then a 914 and a 356 were in my neighborhood and they followed me home and we talked. SO cool. Ohio has so many P-cars. Morgan +4- MGB they drooled and waved. MGA same thing. TR3 same. Morgan, sittin in front of me so i beeped and they waved. Super 7 waved. This all happend with in the month of Februrary in the freezing cold. Suprised to see so many british cars out! Sam

Filling up gas next to a mid 90's 300Z, he says, "Nice car brah". I say, "Mahalo (thanks), yours too brah. Is that a turbo? (NOT!)". It's not a flash but more like an ego boost. Gotta get my car on the road! Aloha, Neal

Great idea for a thread, I actually saw two red 944s today! The first one was during lunch, older (50s) guy driving it. It was pretty spanked and had one of those huge CB antennas on the top of it, yuck! He had an amateur radio license plate. Pulled right up beside me at a light, didn't notice him at first, he beeped his horn and I rolled my window down for him to tell me 'nice car' Of course I said 'you too'. He replied, 'aint many of us Porsh owners around, are there?' in a nice thick Texas accent. Didn't really feel like telling the old boy, yeah I rarely see more than 3 or 4 a day here in Dallas. Anyway, he turned one way and I the other, thinking,'damn dude, please wash your car sometime this year'. I saw the other one on the way home, I've seen him before too, he must live right around me. Younger (20s) guy, his 944 was in much better shape than the first one. We rode side by side for a couple of miles than he turned off with a wave and a beep of his horn.

I was travelling 395 South to 95 South, CT travelling north was a mid to late 80s 944/951 (across the median) that my girlfriend spotted through the spitting rain this Sunday, March 3rd. fog light double flash sent and received. Isn't it great driving a 944?

I had the ultimate flash just two nites ago. Myself and the "girlfriend" (more so just a girl who lives with me that won't LET me break up with her) were driving around and we stopped at the lights right next to a Black 944. We drove down the strip side by side for awhile, then stopped at the MACdonald's parking lot to chit chat (I know, I know - I should have at least chose Arby's - MACdonald's is such a Ricer spot). He had his girlfriend with him (very attractive thin blond hottie) and we all talked a bit and hit it off. His girlfriend was "the silly type", yet still hot. They both were very cool people in their late 20's. Anywho - as we left the lot, we drove side by side again down the street (thus doubling the 944 "catching peoples eye-a-bil-ity" power) - it was very cool. Just as we were about to part ways, his girlfriend lifts up her shirt and flashes us - my female passenger reciprocated. It all happened so fast, I didn't get to burn the image in my head for future "alone moments". Best flash ever!!! And it was my first also.

You know what - stuff like that is not uncommon where I live. Maybe it's a "Canadian thing" or something (more of a Maritimer thing actually). We, as a group (Canadians) are pretty wacky. If you look at most of the popular comedy people in the States.....mostly Canadian. The Jim Carrey's....the Martin Shorts, Dan Ackroyd, Howie Mandel (well, that one doesn't count), even "Will" from Will and Grace is Canadian. When we Canadians make a solid connection with a stranger - we almost immediately "act like ourselves" around them and open up and act silly, if we feel comfortable. Canadians are like the cast of every teen movie ever made. Sorry if my description of Canadians is off, but that is just the Canadians I know!!

Today, during lunch, I was sitting at a red light on Route 9 in Natick, MA, ready to take a left, and a silver Boxster S pulled up next to me. My passenger mentioned that he was there, and I looked over to see if the person driving might make eye contact, give a wave, or at least be checking out another Porsche, albeit a twelve-year old one. Well, I guess he wasn't a true Porsche enthusiast, because he did neither. He seemed to be rather snobby, just waiting for the light to turn green. He probably doesn't even know what a 944 is... or an S2 for that matter. If it wasn't an S version, and I was going straight, I probably could have forced him to take notice and wonder... Jim

I meant to post this a while ago when it happened but now Z-man has jogged my memory... I was running my usual afternoon errands... zipping around San Pedro in my silver baby and I pull into my favorite Italian grocery. As I parallel park my car this old guy (I'm in my forties... an old guy to most of you I presume, so I don't mean any disrespect) anyway this guy gets out of his car, takes a long look at my car and as I'm getting out starts walking towards me. At this point I'm thinking uh-oh maybe I did some maneuver out on the boulevard that this gentleman did not approve of. But instead he keeps looking at my 944 and then says to me "you know I bought a 356 new from the dealer years ago and I used to drive it up to Mammoth ever weekend doing eighty all the way there and back... never should have sold that car." I said something lame like yea they sure make nice cars and we talked for a little while then went our separate ways. Pulled into the Chevron station to gas up and check the air in the tires... old guy in a red 911 wearing a Hawaiian shirt (I was wearing a Hilo Tee-shirt) pulls in... He gives a sideways glance at my 944 and goes about gassing up... I try to make eye contact but he's focused on his car... his car is in immaculate condition... my car runs great but has more chips than Frito-Lay. He opens the trunk (hood? bonnet?) and starts looking at his engine, at this two of the attendants come over to check it out, I wander over to take a peek but the guy didn't see me... Maybe he was just too into his car to notice me, anyway if he was a snob I didn't want to push it so I took off. There are allot of Porsches in Los Angeles but there are also allot of snotty bsatards however I try to wave when I can. There are four or more 944's in San Pedro however we are usually passing each other with such speed we don't have time to wave! BTW I have met some very nice 911 guys here at the Pelican BBS so I definitely am not implying that 911 folks are snobs.

I saw waht looked to be an early to mid-80's 911 today. As I was passing by, the driver and I made eye contact and he seemed to smile. However, I don't know if he was smiling because of seeing a fellow Porsche driver or if he was snickering because my fender and front spoiler was badly damaged from an accident a while back. I was on my way to the bodyshop to drop the car off to be fixed.

A few weeks ago I was leaving the supermarket. Sitting at red light directly across from me was a silver 928s4 I popped the lights up at him. My Girlfriend said "why are you turning you lights on?" I said... "just watch baby." As he proceeded to make his left turn into traffic the women in the passenger seat smiled and waved at us. She found the whole P car club thing fascinating. Several months ago Im leaving my Buddies house in Hilton Head. Im rolling along and up ahead i see a couple of boxsters waiting to pull out. They pull out a little in front of me, as I close up on them I see a few other cars pulling up to the same stopsign from behind some trees, a 914, a late 80's 911, a 928 and a 993. We all end up leaving the plantation together and turns out they were on the way to a PCA meeting. We chatted a bit at the stoplights and played the "nice car-you too" game. The best part was watching the faces of other drivers as 7 beautiful porshces of all shapes and colors rocketed past them. I had just bought mine and Im pretty sure I will remember that day for ever.

I get flashed every couple of weeks by this guy in a late seventies sc; real friendly. I have to wave cuz my high beams aren't working. Right through the winter, too(it's been a very mild winter here, otherwise I wouldn't be out).
