Why do you need to lube them? Its been my experience on 911s that you have to remove the torsion bar from the tube to properly lubricate it. Also, a great time to check if after 30 years its rusted or about to break. If similar to the 911, theres a good chance the big rubber bushing at the outside end needs replacement anyway.

No you would have to remove them... But I really see no need to lube them. They are a stationary part. If they are moving, you have issues....

you need to remove the torque tube and change the bearings,job that is good to do every 20 years....

i did it on my 944 and 95% of all the noises go far far away!

There is never any need to lubricate anything in the torsion bar assembly as there are no metal bushings or bearings in there. The rear torsion bars on our cars act as springs and if you think about it would you ever lubricate your front springs?

There are a couple of large rubber bushes at the spring plate end and these do wear out...eventually. Just replace them if that is the case but you never have to lube them with anything. If you replace those rubber bushes with Bronze then that's a different story. You would have to then re-apply appropriate grease at regular intervals, say every engine oil change. The Bronze replacements have a fitting for this.
