Possible Piston Problems?

Alright after my rebuild I goofed a bit and had the injectors running full blast. Of course eventually I heard a smash and the motor was locked up full of fuel. After emptying it and fixing the problem I got the car running fine. There are no strange sounds coming from the motor (as far as I can tell with my currently open downpipe).

However.. there is a fair bit of black smoke coming from the exhaust. Keep in mind I haven't had the chance to really break it in yet so I'm not sure what is what. Is it possible that the motor may have broken a ring or something? I figured the starter doesn't spin the motor too awfully fast so maybe that could have saved me. There has been no oil in the coolant or vice versa and I am using a cometic headgasket. I would have performed a leakdown but I don't have access to the equipment at the moment.
