Back running again, 3 months after the flood:)

Today, I replaced some of the 30-year-old, cracked, stock vacuum hoses w/ones from Lindsey Racing, and reinstalled the reconditioned air flow meter and my '84 N/A fired right up for the first time in 3 months after it stalled in a July flood!

Not only did she rev strongly and accelerate smoothly (just like a 944 w/a rebuilt engine should); the high-pitched noise associated w switching on the A/C, which I originally thought was a belt, or a roller issue, also disappeared.

I want to thank you all for giving me many great advice and encouragement to keep me from giving up. Now, I can get back to driving and enjoying this wonderful creation from the Big 80's!

coolant system emptied after the plug broke. 7 days out at the dealer, I called all the Porsche shops and Redmond European pulled one out of their inventory. Refilled, spent the next 2 days making sure it was bled. Running okay for now.

Put the finishing touches on what started as a tie rod job (and ended up as 1.5 months of the car not running) and got an alignment done. I now have a front-right tire hum (I probably overtightened the wheel bearings), a sticky starter that will need to be rebuilt before I start the car again, and the assertion from the alignment shock that they can't get my front left camber/caster in spec because I need a new front left "shock" (I assume insert. This comes as no surprise; I've been thinking the front left shock looked a bit lower than the right for awhile.)

The fun never ends...

Dropped it off to have the front of the motor redone. Belts, pulleys, pump. The whole she-bang.

Have the brake fluid and coolant flushed while its in.

Good for anther 30K, WooHoo!

Raised the front up and measured clutch wear: 24.6mm. Looks like I'm good for a while still. Since she was up in the air, I installed a recently purchased aluminum belly pan with the TSB modification already performed (one inverted vent).

Pulled starter with the intention of cleaning the solenoid and lubricating the bendix. Solenoid screws are all sorts of stuck, so it's getting the PB blaster & hammer treatment. I'm guessing it's the original starter/solenoid.

Last few days: Only944's inner/on body sunroof seal, and did what the TSB said for the airbox/belt cover vent. Parts were $12 from the dealer.

Today I unboxed my Power Flex front/rear swaybar and torsion bar housing bushings.

Then I reassembled most of the rear torsion bar housing.

Last thing I did was install the two big bushings on my new 26.8mm front swaybar.

I put on tons of the included copper grease, so hopefully they won't squeak like people say they do.

Found some time today to replace the driver's side window regulator. Sadly, when I opened the box containing what was described as a 'very good' condition used-part, I discovered that the point of contact between the motor and the regulator was broken and, in fact, missing chunks of metal. Luckily the motor worked so it was a quick substitution and all was well. And while the ultimate cost to me was not all that much I must say it was a clear case of caveat emptor.

I checked my selling history on eBay because I sold a very nice one recently, and whew, mine went to Australia.

Today I touched up some of the undercoating, fixed my unmovable spring plates, installed the torsion bar housing, and bolted up my control arms. I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel....

@Chunkerz: You appear to have your rear coilovers on upside down. Not sure how much difference it actually makes, but thought you should know.
