SLICK! I like the storage cover!

My XC70 has one, and I never use it. Extra points for frugality and ingenuity.

Broke a CV Saturday, I'll replace it this Friday, as well as the fluid with MT-90 and new plugs. The Stage 8's are getting kinda crusty, anyone else have rust like this?

Talking Rear Hatch Cover

Yeah, sure thing. EZ to do. I cut 1 48" quarter round and 1 42" qtr round. Sanded, primed, and painted. Made a pattern to fit out of newspaper. (I really didn't need it)
I bought some black canvas and Velcro from Walmart (ewww) and placed the quarter rounds 42" apart - shoulda gone 43" on the fabric. Cut 1" over on the sides (for a hem) and 2" over on the front and back. Folded and hemmed the sides, sewed a loop front and back to slide quarter rounds through. Sewed Velcro 1" Velcro loop (fuzzy) side up and 9" Velcro hook side down 2" from back end where original hatch cover hooks went. Slid in quarter rounds into cover, Screwed front quarter round through fabric into carpeting of the back of the seat with 1" wood screws (5). slid long Velcro through rear mounts and cinched it all up Velcro to velcro. Now the cover doesn't retract itself, but it is easy to roll up an stash behind the seat if I need to. I used canvas with a matte finish to have no reflection or glare, but use whatever you want. There was some really good looking curtain material there too, but I wanted to do something cheap just to see if it would work. Glad you enjoyed. Good luck!

I recharged AC, as it was a 90+ degree day.

Bought relays, H4 bulb sockets and wires to make the headlight relay wiring.

Tested new fuel filter and Swepco 201 in the tranny. 944 drives well.

Drain the coolant and started parting the 1989 NA. If anyone needs parts, let me know.

Participated in local Youngtimer track day event.

During event met a guy who serviced my car when it was owned by previous owner and somehow we talked about transmissions and he said that my 951 has LSD. I did not know that as the option sticker does not state option 220. Came home and checked the Transmission code 9U and was happy with what I found

Passenger side axle installed with new lobros....split shipment so the other two CVs will come Monday. New CV joints are really tight! The supplied bolts where the same length as my existing bolts but lacked threads on the tapered tip....with only 7 threads showing, I used the old ones which engage nine turns.

No more clicky clicky going up the last mile up the hill home. The joint next to the exhaust was the only one with play and I swapped it to the passenger side a couple 1000 miles ago.

Installed a new complete passenger half shaft. Striped some Stage 8's with my worn Matco 8mm. Warrantied my Matco 8mm. New Redline MT-90 and drain/fill plugs in the trans. Beveled the Pagid Oranges in the rear, and new rear Zimmerman Z-Coat rotors.

My dash is finally in and the interior is 90% done. Just need a climate control unit, clock, and fix my carpet in a few areas.

I also put in my new Rennbay glove box hinges.

my Bro's 944S died. AC compressor seized, broke AC/ALT belt and drained battery.

waiting for replacement compressor, but got it running and verified the AC issue.

and just got my carbon fiber wrap. plan to wrap the hood, vented header panel and the head light covers.

finished putting the AC system together in my 951. WHAT, putting AC in a DE track car? just need to get to shop for a charge.

I prefer to look and feel good than be a sec faster on lap times.

also went to a DE a couple weeks ago with my new trailer in tow.

Changed oil.

Soon I'll need to pull trans and replace input shaft seal. it's leaking quite badly.

dp951,

Very nice engine. Say, are you the guy that works on these cars in Miami? I spoke with someone down there about an early dash...

Ah, the cobbler's children have no shoes syndrome?

maybe some day I will understand why you always refer to yourself as the A hole. you bailed me out sending that fitting I could not find when building my 951.

I am about to embark on my first engine rebuild. a 78 3.3 930. maybe I should have started on something simple first.
