Hi. Wondering if anyone could help me out here. I bought another 924S. This one has the center cap locks on the wheels, but the owner did not have the key.
I am wondering what I can do to get the rims off. So far my options are: 1. Call Porsche and hope they can find the key based on the VIN (assuming they are not aftermarket locks) 2. Hiring a locksmith to make a key (is this expensive?) 3. Drill it out 4. Beat em until they come off (or use the ol' I lost my trunk key so I'll rip the lock with a dent puller trick) Any other ideas you guys can think of (I'm not too keen on any of them). I'm hoping there is a master key somewhere or that maybe there are only 3 or 4 keys they used, and I can get a hold of the right one. -S

Are you referring to the funny looking lugnut cover on one of your lugnuts that requires a key to remove?
If so, they are no longer made, and Porsche no longer supports them (You may get lucky and find a dealer with a few sets in the parts department) Unfortunately, they locks are not keyed to your VIN, and you cannot get a key for them from Porsche. This leaves you with have a locksmith make you one (call for a price first) or Cut the old locks off and buy a new set locking lugnuts (the kind that need a special socket to undo) from Porsche - $79 if memory serves. I have four, off of the car, without a key. So you could just pull yours off and get a key made for these. Includes the hollow nuts.
I use what AFJuvat explained. Have to be careful got get all of the pins engaged completely before loosening the retainer nut. Otherwise works great. I'll look through the 86 tomorrow for a key but I'm pretty well into tearing it apart and haven't seen one yet.

Thats exactly what I have. I'm guessing I'm going to have to drill them off (I called a few dealers and part houses and they don't have any keys either).
I have a set of normal caps and lugs to throw on, I just wanted to avoid having to drill these things out. -S

AAA does lockout service, i bet they will pick the locks on your wheels too. A year membership is probably cheaper than calling a locksmith yourself. I have AAA Plus so I don't worry about driving my 944 anywhere, towing up to 100 miles to a place of your choice, not theirs.

If you manage to get hold of a set of wheel locks (with a key) I HIGHLY recommend ordering a key blank from automotion - they still sell the blanks

Checked the 86 over the weekend and yes all of the locks and lugnuts are there but no key.
Will check with fore mentioned supplier for key blank and tear apart a tumber to get the proper profile. Stay tuned.

Well I looked real hard this morning through the rapidly deminishing 86 and stuck in the drivers door garbage collector thingie was the key to the wheel locks! Not as big a key as I was looking for.
I have all four of the locks with caps and the hollow lug nuts that go with them.
