How to remove rear wheel spacers(85.5-)
I only recently discovered that the rear of my 84 has spacers in the back, I though they were part of the wheel because they're stuck on! Is there a screw or something holding them to the wheels? I've put off rotating my tires because I thought the wheels were different front and rear...

How thick are they? Not common to attach them to the wheel rather than to the hub.
Post a picture, or measure or how thick they are. Picture would be better though. Happy Holidays! |

There isn't a screw holding them on. usually the get stuck to the hub rather than the wheel. You're fighting corrosion my friend and it's going to make you work for it. Try some PB Blaster and a plastic/rubber hammer they'll come free.

Try to take a picture inside the wheel, if you can see through the spokes pretty well.
There's a chance they could be hubcentric spacers with a separate flange for that, which could be stuck in the wheel just from sitting there for a long time. Before using any chemicals just try tapping the spacer with your foot or a rubber mallet (something soft). Taking a picture to show thickness might determine if that is a possibility, depending on how thick they are. Really thick spacers are what would be called adapters, and need a separate set of lug bolts and nuts. But adapters attach to the hub, not the wheel. Something to consider...
If they are spacers, then you will have long studs (depending on the thickness of the spacer). So, you may not be able to run the wheel without the spacer, especially if your lug nuts are not open. If they are adaptors, they should have been bolted to the wheel hub and not come off with the wheel. Corrosion, time, and "gunk" can be pretty strong bonding elements. Soak, heat, and force and they should come off.

If they are the factory spacers its likely they are just corroded on to the wheel, I tapped them with my "sissy" hammer just a little rubber mallet. The other side on my did require the "persuader" aka my 5 lb mallet, that and a small block of wood worked well.

Thanks for all the replies, I was thinking it's just corrosion but I wanted to make sure before I take a hammer to it.
To answer some of the questions, yes the studs in the back are crazy long, and they're definitely not adapters haha I have a set of those |
