968 high and low beam problem

I just purchased a 968, after owning many 944's. When I turned on headlights I would only get low beams. Column switch would not activate high. I removed multi function switch and sprayed it with contact cleaner and made sure all looked to be functioning correctly. Reinstalled in car and high beams are on in normal position and activated position. The only way to get high beams off is to pull switch into "flash". On the good side I have lights. bad side is I can't get high beams off. Thoughts? Just don't want to start buying expensive switches and relays until I research a bit.
Thanks

You may need to pull the switch again. Take a careful look again. You can find the switches at the recyclers such as Oklahoma foreign.

I had the same problem, look into the switch and you will see the metal contact arm. Mine just had to be bent back so it wasn't touching the one contact until pulled into the flash position.

Or pull the fuses for the High beams.

Thanks. Will check that out tonight. I did check which number circuits were activated at different points, but was unsure what was correct or not. The main wire looks to be a white #56. It has a circuit completed in both high and low, but not in flash. My first assumption is that is culprit. I'll keep working it. Thanks!
