Fuse Block Removal

Hey there everyone. I've been troubleshooting an issue with my left side high beams and found the problem to be with the WH/BK wire connection behind the fuse panel leading to fuse #3. How in the world can the panel be removed so I may access the connector? There appears to be a couple short wires that wrap around portions of the harness making it impossible to fully remove from its cradle. Of course the headlight wires are located on the last connection to the left (facing panel) and I can't pull the unit totally out. Is there another way to access the rear? I could cut the wire a few inches from the connector and splice in an in-line fuse but I don't want to bastardize the wiring; I've spent a considerable amount of time and expense cleaning up previous owners shotty work. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I don't know about the early models, but you can fight it up and out on the late models. It is tight with the wiring.

The early models are a whole other matter and a real pain but thanks anyway! I wonder if it would be easier to access if I removed the DME...

Earlies are easy to pull the fuse block. Remove the screw from below the fuses 12 & 13. Then lift the right side up slightly and pull to you and slide the fuse block to the right. The fuse block should then be able to be lowered.

Wrench1,

That what I was afraid of... I can tilt the right side off the cradle and move the block about an inch or so but there are a couple of short/entangled wires within the harness that prohibits moving it any further. I'm hesitant on fiddling with the harness too much as it may create other electrical issues. Maybe I'll look at it again this coming weekend.

Reviving this older thread. I'm having the same issue. I need to get at the back side of the DME Relay socket. How you get the fuse/relay block out to access the rear?

I located a nice used panel from Parts Heaven then proceeded to replace the unit by first removing the driver's seat and laying down as this was going to take some time. Make sure to check if this pin is loose as it typically is the culprit.
