Los of power in 2nd and 3rd...HELP!!!

Problem: Car will loose power when in 1st and 2nd. Only thing I can compare it to is whe you have the car in 5th gear and are running at 25 to 30 mph and them floor it. The car just won't go and idle starts to go down. I am around the 3k rpm when this happens. I usually just put in the clutch and rev up the engine a few times and put it back in 2nd or 1st. Very strange loss of power. It has happened to me 5 times now. Last time was going home last night. Although it did not happen to me going to work today.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong. Do I need to replace the OC sensor, is the fule regulator going bad, or could it be other issues. Take in mind that this problem does not happen all the time.

Why do you think it is the alternator? Won't the car still run smooth even if the alternator dies, until the battery dies?
Anyone give me a call I really need help on this.

OK, fuel pressure related, your FPR is going bad.

In my opinion, loss of power in the 3000 range is usually throttle switch issue.

Thanks guys,
However the car is now running fine. My friend who also has a 944S2 Cab was experiencing the same problems from Sunday to Wednesday. His car is fine now as well. I am just going to have to wait for it to occur more frequently before I can get it diagnosed. Till them I'm blaming the problem on solar flairs.
