Speed Sensor
I have a 1986 944 turbo. When the car is cold, the speedometer works fine. After it warms up(usually about 5-10 minutes) the speedometer does not record the speed accurately. It could be off as much as 20-40mph. It doesn't stop working, it's just not accurate. Someone said it could be a speed sensor. If so, where is the sensor located and is it easy to replace. Thanks for your help. Eric

Speed and reference sensors are located behind the intake manifold, and plug into the clutch bell housing. Go to Clark's garage, and find speed and reference sensor removal/ replacement for pics and instructions. Do a search on here too for plenty of pics and more helpfull hints.

The speedometer sensor is located back on the transaxle, on the driver's side.
It should be pretty easy to get to and replace if needed.
