Lights go off when I use turn signal?

Actually, only when I use the signal to turn left do my lights go off. I also just noticed only my "brights" work on my just bought 86 944...Can someone lead me in the right direction. Thanks much!

I recently replaced the Multifunction Switch on the steering column, the Hi beam - Lo beam and Left - Right functions were giving problems. Car would switch from Lo beam to Hi beam when driving at night. The only way to temporarily fix the problem was to lightly hold down the Left indicator stalk for a short while but if I used the indicators, the problem would start again.

This is not exactly as you discribed it but this part is problematic and has been known to cause problems.

My directionals work for @ 2 days and then burn out the fuze. High beams haven't worked since I purchased the car; dealer provided the wrong replacement stalk and won't take it back ("electrical parts"!!). Thanks goodness I have Iceshark's low beams (can't wait to see the high beams)! Got a mechanic trying to trace it now (in for leaking injector bar, anyways).

What's the hand signal for high beams? Maybe that's my problem.

Thanks guys! Mark: Thats what I was doing to not get my lights to turn off. I would lightly turn my signals and not have it "click" all the way through. Yeah...Hand signals can work...now...until the snow flys! ha ha...
