Sump hooking up on something

First time taking the sump off, all bolts are out, it's lifting away by a few inches all round, but something to do with the oil pickup or some strap is catching when I try to lift the sump pan away. Give me a clue someone, Clarks doesn't mention it, do I unbolt the oil pickup through the gap, or is it something to do with the sensor on the outside of the pan poking in. I don't just want to pull hard..!

I'll get some light in there sometime tomorrow, but just wondered who knows what this is..?

Remove the sensor, once it is removed you should be able to maneuver it off of the oil pick-up. Do not try to muscle it off or you may be buying a new baffle.

Many thanks. I had the three bolts out for the sensor but it seemed stuck on there pretty hard. If it has to come out, so be it.

You have to twist it around quite a bit for you to get it out, but you won't be able to drop the oil pan until you do.

Thanks for the advice, the sensor it was, or rather, the level sender Porsche call it. Got that out, got the sump off, and sitting on top of the oil filter gauze (my engine is upside down on a stand) was a small 1/4inch square bit of polished metal, that I think is part of the skirt of piston number 3.

Suprised something so minor could cause so much clanking, but hey...

When I've got a decent photo, I shall reveal the grisly detail.
