Alright, so last year I did the typical 944 laundry list of replacement parts on my 83' 944, from clutch to timing belts, computer to new radiator, reference/speed sensors to all around brakes, rotors and master cylinder.
now when I replaced my clutch i changed the oil in my trans axle, however the drain and fill bolts were old and questionable, I stripped the fill bolt head trying to get it out. since I already had the trans axle out I didn't worry too much as I simply put it on its side to add the amount of fluid it called for then put the drain plug back in.... however, now I'm considering adding a product called NMF to my engine and hopefully my trans axle. Don't wont to pull out my trans axle just to add a few ounces of this additive .... is there any other way to add a fluid to my trans axle without taking the fill or drain plugs out? any advice will be greatly appreciated ![]() |

I had a problem with a stripped fill plug and a transmission shop welded a socket to it and was able to remove it. Never got my socket back!
The advice I have heard is to NOT remove the drain plug until the fill plug has been removed first. Otherwise you could drain it, and if the fill plug can't be removed, you have no way to refill, no way to drive the car either. |

You could probably pop off one of the output flanges (stub axles) and sort of slowly pour fluid it.... maybe.

You should remove the knackered plug. Just tack-weld a bolt to it described as above, and replace it with one of these (click image):
