How many splices?
I wonder how many splices the typical 928 has?
Today I continued taking off anything I figured out how to take off on my Euro 84. Mostly interior, got going on the pod a bit, and working more on the doors. Both mirrors had all the wires to them spliced, as in mirror was replaced and instead of opening up the door and getting the wiring loose, it was cut and spliced from the outside just inches from the mirror. Both headlights had been spliced the same way. Some splices were crimped butt connectors so I couldn't see the actual connection. Others had half a inch of wire stripped back, twisted together, then folded flat along the length of the wire and wrapped with tape. Most of that variety had some green in the connection. Mother of all splice parties was under the pod where I found an aftermarket alarm system, apparently not the first one since all the couple dozen wires were spliced. On the non wiring side of things, I found out why some of the trim was so hard to remove without pulling out metal tab things, this stuff wasn't removed or masked during painting, and the paint glued down the fasteners. Each time the trim comes off there is a chance of damage, but if it doesn't come off for painting it has almost a 100% chance of breaking the next time. |

I didn't think about how it could be better I guess as much as how I didn't like the splices. In most cases I guess there really isn't much you could do other than make a splice. A few picts of the splices anyway.
