The factory only puts one badge on their cars, and all of them are gold-plated. The only exception to this rule that I can think of was the Weissach cars from the early 1980's, which had a second stainless steel badge mounted on the dashboard. There were only 205 of these cars ever built. A stainless steel badge is also glued onto the intake manifold of the 2-valve 928's.

Some people paste a large badge sticker on the fenders, close to the "A" pillar and door. I think that this is a good look, though it imitates the Ferarri GTO and isn't in any way shape or form "pure". I'm pretty-much a purist.

-One thing that many 928 owners have done that I appreciate is the mounting of a Porsche crest on the ashtray door. You can buy a cheap key ring fob with a gold Porsche badge and grind off the top part that holds it to the leather fob, then glue it to the door. I haven't done that, but I think it is a nice touch.

N!

The Bleumax - 78 5spd, 52K, cat delete, airpump delete, magnaflow exhaust. Great sound and much lighter than my former 84 and 86.5 - feels faster (altho it's not):

Thanks Morriss. Here's another scenery shot from a fun run a few of us took two weeks ago along the Beartooth Hwy at the Montana and Wyoming border. This is at 10,800 feet! The views were stunning.

By the way, the 930 on the end is a RUF conversion, and the silver S4 is supercharged with the prototype 89GT engine. These cars were scary fast - it was fun to watch them pull away from the rest of us like we were standing still - while we were all cruising at 120+ mph!!! (the silver S4 is for sale too)

10,800 feet! That's cool. How did the car run?

-Did you know that if you were operating an airplane instead of a 928 at that altitude, you would be required by law to use supplemental oxygen?

Hi Normy - interesting you should ask. The Bleumax ran fine, but the S4 had a slight overheating issue at that altitude (it's supercharged), the 86.5 flooded at one of the overlooks when we stopped, and took a bit to start (we actually swapped a fuel pump relay and it started, but later confirmed it was just flooded), and the vette - not pictured, suffered an electrical breakdown (probably due to the road conditions - lots of resurfacing going on, and something vibrated looses on the vette battery). Definitely had some running issues at that altitude. It was like flying in a jet fighter as we wound our way up the narrow switchbacks and looked down into the vast valleys below. And yes, there was snow in August up there.

Thanks, I think the pics make it look better than it really is. Still plenty of work to do but getting there. I wanted to make it to breakfast on saturday but couldnt pull it off, planning on next month.

Nice 928S! What year? I think the OZ wheels look good with the color.
