idle screw all the way down on 86 automatic?
I had a high rpm(1400) in park. I found after searching for leaks that the rubber boot between the throttle body and the intake was unattached and sucking in air through there. I now attatched the rubber boot and tightened up both clamps and now the car idles correctly but in park I cant rev up the engine. It sounds like its bogging down. The throttle adjusting screw was turned all the way down by someone prior to me that was probably trying to fix the high idle. Do I need to open this up now that I attatched the rubber boot? Does the screw increase air or?? Thanks in advance.

The MAF CO adjustment may have been set very rich to compensate for the leak. Measure the resistance at the MAF between pins 6 and 14 at the LH connector (or pins 3 or 4 and 6 on the MAF). The 'zero' point is 382 in a 0-1000 ohm range.
To set/check the idle, put a piece of wire between B & C on the engine diagnostic plug to stop the automatic idle control. Turn the idle screw CCW (out) to raise the idle speed to 700 rpm. ![]()

the round connector is on the engine, if your standing looking at the engine it will be just left of center it is on a pedestal just under the cross brace pull the cap down and you will see the pins inside it

Thank You. I tried to open the idle adjustment screw to see if it would get rid of the bogging by letting in more air but it did nothing but raise the idle. I found the connector(thanks again) and Im going out there to at least try to get the correct base idle. Next Im going to look to try to find out how to test the fuel pressure. Im starting to think that maybe the pump is gummed up a little from sitting awhile. It starts fine but when I try to give it gas it bogs like it wants to die out(in park). I have not tried it in gear yet

Sounds like Vacuum Leak to me. Or Vacuum Lines broken or not routed correctly.
