odometer no clicky!

Pulled the pod on the 84, odometer gear was brown, broken and jammed. Replaced teh gear, put it all back together but still no odometer, speedometer is fine - can't tell from the wiring diagram - are there 2 feed to the unit, one for speed and another sensor for odometer?

What's the connection in the battery box? Speedo, tach, odom.,? I want to say odom. Clean that connection really well- it's behind a plate- looking thing.

9 volt battery on the speedo motor see if turns just make sure its working,
no need to put 50 miles on the thing while the battery runs down

Hmm, I second the OP's question. My ODO just quit, and I thought the point of failure was the gear. I have one on the way, but haven't torn into the pod yet. So, I am interested as well if there is another failure point (electrical) that I should check before getting into the POD. My spedometer works fine.

By the way, mine quit when resetting the trip while at a stop - clicked over to zero and hasn't worked since. Most likely the gear in my case, but interested to know if there is another point of failure that would prvent the odometer from working while the speedo still works.

Hey Neil, my odometer didn't work since I didn't put the reset device in the cluster correctly. On the back of the plate, the device has a pin that needs to fit in the hole. If it is not aligned, it will get stuck.
