I think part of this is my fault when I said I thought yours was a CIS system, I looked at the pic pretty quick and I thought it was a CIS system, I will say that I do appreciate your help very very much, I do appreciate the help of everyone on this site, I have gained a lot of useful info on this site, between here and talking to HPk7 on the phone trying different things to do to lean it out a bit better.

I found my engine number, here it is M28/16 81C5073. Does it mean my motor is an 1981 model

The 32V 85 is very different than the 16V non Euro.

I gave input, you countered it with wrong information.

Engine management system? What are you talking about? These primitive systems, the LH-Jetronic don't even talk to the the ignition, which is what the '90's vintage systems finally managed!

so, I tried to do some research on my engine. Is there a good website that can show the vacuum diagram for my engine or does anyone have a copy of the vacuum, I listed my engine code earlier in this thread, Thanks

Best compilation of data seems to be CD's from Moorehouse, via Rog100, that contain reams of other documentation, including & besides full workshop manuals and wiring diagrams and PET parts listings. I'll dig through it and see if I can find it.

Edit: I can't find a master diagram anywhere for 82 specifically. The coverage in the manuals and tech spec books is very disjointed. Check on rennlist, some of the 82 folks may have compiled something or found one.

Generally, you would need to look at the systems for fuel, emissions, timing/distributor and HVAC (all use vac) and dig through the model years looking for sub-diagrams on each and then comparing and contrasting. For instance, you could use 80 fuel diagrams to find that vac layout, then read forward looking for any changes thru 82 that might have affected the vac diagram. Then the same for HVAC. Then study the distributor closely because some have vac advance and retard and its hard to track which is which

Then there is the complexity of the different engine mgmt systems, so these complexities make it impossible for the guy with a single model year interest to jump to the summary for his model year.



Porsche assumed the techs knew what was already on the market, so they just showed updates each year.

I still havent found anything on the net for a vacuum diagram, it only lists some of them, the ones that I already have done. Does anyone have any other suggestions on where to look. Thanks

What was wrong with the one I posted for you. It's the only diagram I have ever seen with that piece on your vacuum system.

there is a couple of differences between mine and yours, I have an advance and retard vacuum hose for my dist.

I thought you were looking for vac routing for that piece you posted. Of which, neither vac post goes to the Ign Distributor.

Chris,
Use Leo's (MPDANO) diagram...
Your car's diagram has the thermo valve in it, with hose coming from a T and before the T the distributor vacuum; the other side goes to the control valve (pas side) with vacuum lines to carbon canister and from the air-box to AAR hose connection. The control valve small fitting where does your hose from this fitting go?? it is usually a red hose.

The valve is listed on 928Intl #058 131 851A. I believe it changes state once warmed up and over a specific temp??

I would believe that this is important for running properly at temp and am unaware (just have not thought through ramifications) of bypassing this circuit.

Wow! Who knew that there were so many other 928 owners in little Kingston, Ontario?! Yeah! I have an '82 auto. Ok, Ok, write your own jokes but, the price was right otherwise, yes, I would have chosen a manual tranny...

And as for the other guys, I marvel at your knowledge--you ALL leave me in the dust. Just, please, don't lose sight of why we post. :-)

By the way, I'm in Inverary.

PS: I thought it was a part of a flux capacitor!!!
