Hilton,

COP is hard to do on a 16V car due to placement.

EDIS-8 is very easy to set up. Provides a great spark, is super reliable, etc.

I have setup both EDIS-8 and COP setups, and the COP setups are always far more trouble!!!

John Kuhn's kit however is $11.5k, $3.5k more than Murf's to get to around 570rwhp at 12psi on a 5-speed (i.e. no torque converter losses - so slightly more hp than the Murf kit, but not a lot). Numbers on John Kuhn's own twin-turbo per this thread here and using updated figures from his sig.

The 670-ish rwhp car you mention, the only other Kuhn Twin-turbo'd 32V car, requires rather more spending, tuning, and electronics than the base Kuhn twin turbo, and is hardly a valid comparison (about as valid as using Todd's 675rwhp supercharged car as a comparison). If it was so easy to hit 670, surely John would have done it to his own car and used that as advertising?

Don't get me wrong - my personal preference would be for twin turbo if I were tempted by boost.. and I think John's kit is awesome - well engineered, and great production standards.

However for the average 928 owner wanting a bolt-on power mod, it's hard to compete with a kit that's got over 50 installs, includes everything to install it on the vehicle in a single package, plus is 30% cheaper.
Yes I saw that dyno sheet on Tim's wife's car,, But he posted a dyno sheet before on is wife's car that had 511 RWHP on 11 PSI now it has 507 RWHP on 15.60 PSI. The same car ...

Hello everyone!

I am the happy owner of John's second twin turbo kit. Some photos on different parts of the project here: Picasa Web Albums - Tuomo Vuolteenaho. (Many of the photos are of a low-compression engine built by Jim Morton that I haven't yet installed since I still haven't exhausted the stock motor's potential.)

Just a quick comment: '87 S4 + John's base kit + dual 3" exhaust + eboost2 (or any other boost controller that has rpm-specific boost profile) will give >>600 rwhp with very low knock counts. Eboost2 will give you 50-100 rwhp on top of the base kit, because it allows you to ramp up the boost aggressively after 5500 rpm when the stock S4 cams run out of breath.

Just to set the record straight...the only differences between my car and Tuomo's are as follows:

1. He has 3071 turbos and mine are 2871
2. He has a larger fuel pump with 60 lb injectors...I run 044 pump and 42 lb injectors
3. He has a larger fuel feed line with custom fuel damper system and mine is stock
4. He has E-boost 2 and I run Greddy Profec B

Other than these 4 items everything else is absolutely identical. All the parts came off the same fixtures, tubing sizes the same, etc., etc., etc.

I also built that 4.7 Euro S TT engine back in 2006. It's a shame it is held back with that old Callaway hardware. That car is easily worthy to make 500 RWHP since I set the compression at 8.1:1 and it has Nikasil bores and JE2618 pistons.

Truth be told, I've already seen 635 ft-lbs out of my car at 16 psig on the rollers. But right now I'm in the middle of completely re-gearing my business and building a brand new shop for this purpose alone. I don't have time to be toying with the manifold pressure on my car right now and it already will roll past just about anything on the road. I'm hoping for the wiring in my building to be done this weekend so I can get on with the final inspection and move onto "greener pastures". Tuomo left on a Sunday AM and that Monday I broke ground on the new shop and it's been busy as all get out ever since.

Been busy with this:

Nothing like throwing a few walls in the KY heat

Yup...13' to the peak is adequate for a lift.

Best to let the brick laying to the pros...

Now we see the shaping of the finished design...I did the design work myself on the building and the framing was done with the help of some very generous family and friends.

And to boot, Claudia is already fighting with the other kids at story-time over turbo vs. supercharger. This is just a scratch compared to what she dished out...

My wife said Claudia just mentioned something about higher torque, a wider power band, and more peak HP and the other kid just got all upset.

All kidding aside, she pulled down an end table onto her face 3 weeks ago and gave herself this injury. Luckily no stitches were required.

Yes, I get it, but unlike me you can't seem to stay off of their playground...I gave up that game 4+ years ago and you would be better off if you did the same.

We're not sure where those came from. We both have brown eyes but I know my grandfather had bright blue eyes and so does my brother. My wife and I are both half German, so I think she got a big dose of German for sure. There are a lot of German Claudia Kuhns out there, so she has the name to match her eyes and light skin.

I would be questioning that.

Blue eyes is a double recessive gene. The chances of her having blue eyes when you and your wife have brown eyes is in the millions if not billions to 1 range.
Even if you had blue eyes, and your wife had brown eyes it is less than a 50% chance. More like a 30% if I remember correctly........

She's a miracle baby and beat all the odds already, so I'm not going to question her ways...or her blue eyes.

There is little chance of a mixup at the hospital, since she was the only 1lb-4oz, 11 inch long baby that day and there was a team of 6 in the delivery room just watching the baby (another 5 for my wife).

Here she is at 1-2 weeks old.

She beat the folloing odds:

Delivery at 26 weeks...no vital signs for 2 minutes
3X collapsed lungs in the NICU on vent for 5 weeks
No brian bleeds or abnormalities there at all
Coming home without O2...all the nurses warned us she would leave the NICU on 02...she wasn't swallowing that pill, no way.

The only complication we had was slight retinopothy...she had to have the laser surgery just before Christmas last year, but her vision is reported as being perfect at this point.

3 months in the hospital with a $600,000+ bill. Luckily for me, I had insurance that covered all but about $5K out of pocket. I believe they settled for like $380K.

Add a trip to the Dirty South, and you've been one busy man!

Loving the car! Drove it to the Porsche dealership to visit a friend on Friday and they insisted on putting it on a rack so that everyone could see the set up. They were in awe of the plumbing and coolers

Yes and No.

It's so nice finally having it that I just want to drive and make sure it's completely sorted..so far so good. The paint isn't bad overall and I want to get some bits together for the job itself such as GTS mirrors and removal of side strips. I will be in touch when the time comes.

You considering those wheels in Alabama? That's a smoking deal!

John, Claudia looks just like you!
