Had a little bit of time to get my Alternator Duct Sorted. I bought some 2-1/2 inch Heater Duct from eBay. It came in a 6' length. I had some spare aluminum pieces, a bolt and nut and washers, and a couple spare hose clamps. Drilled and Riveted.

I also had a brand new fender cover for my Euro, so installed that since the "S" did not have one.

Don't skimp on this kind of stuff. Buy only new. Arizona Auto Haus has great deals on this stuff. I can't post a link since it will be blocked.

Did some Canvas Button Snap Repairs on my Trunk Cover and L-Jet Cover. I found some commercial grade Snap Button with Tools from eBay for about $18 shipped. It was real easy to do. I did 4 sets on the Trunk Cover and the single one that covers the L-Jet Computer.

Thanks for showing that. Very professional looking.
Have you had the heart to show the $900 car to the PO yet?

I think about that every once in awhile, but he also wanted the Ghetto Rims, but I sold them last week. He's also over 6 feet tall and Corn fed

I don't think he'd care about the rims especially if I told him that I had almost $400 in back Registration fees, of which he said there were none.

I'm so happy with this car, it's just the small stuff now. It rides so smooth compared to my Euro. Euro is a head turner though

[QUOTE=MPDano;6142188]

So where is it that the other end of the hose from the alternator is supposed to go to?

Call me stupid, but what exactly is the purpose of that hose?

I replaced the alternator and the end of the hose that attaches to the alternator was all crumbly and I couldn't re-attach.

When I jacked up the car to work on the transmission I traced the hose and the other end was just tucked up in the space below the headlight, seemingly attached to nothing.

And another stupid question: What is it in the middle of the hose that has the wire running from it? What is it an input for?

I planned on sorting all that out once I've finished the work on the transmission, but now that I saw your pictures on this thread, I figured now was a good time to ask these dumb questions.

TIA

I've really need to learn the trick of sizing pictures right for posting on here, always way to big or way to small...

yeah, the hose attaches to nothing. It's purpose is to provide clean air to the alternator....so it doesn't suck all sorts of sand and road grit into the alternator whch then eats the brushes and communtator strips. The thermistor in the end of the hose is part of the AC circuit, it reads outside air temperature and compares it to the inside temps as part of the AC.

The hose and the shield on the alternator are both important, many of the off the shelf replacement alternators do not fit the housing and they fill up with road debris and engine oil and junk in very short order...

One end to alternator and the other to open air. The wire goes to a sensor (thermistor) that completes the AC Circuit. It MUST be attached. Ask me how I know

Sunroof Fixed!

This past Saturday I got the motivation to fix my Sunroof. It never worked properly since I bought the car. It was kinda open but trying to close it with the switch became impossible. I ended up having to use the little rubber motor clutch and spin it manually about 1000 times to get it to move 1/4".

Anyways took mega pics (of course) to show you how I successfully got my Sunroof to operate 100% and very smoothly.

The Instructions from this website got me motivated and helped a lot in getting me started in the right direction.

Sunroof

Open the Sunroof 3/4 of the way.

Here are where the 3 screws a relocated (this holds the inner cover on)

The 3 Screws (Manny, Moe and Jack)

This is what those 3 screws connect to.

This the Sunroof Tranny (as I call it) that connects to the Motor which on the other side of the screw pictured turns a gear that moves the toothed cable (which is inside a guide tube). That's a serious run-on sentence there boys and girls! The top arrow points to the electrical plug to the motor. I actually removed the Tranny and pushed the switch to make sure my Motor was nice and strong (which it was)

These are the Four 8mm bolts that hold the Sunroof on. You'll find four more bolts on the opposite site.

Eight bolts removed and sunroof removed and off.

This is the Track you want to make sure is nice and clean. I used lots of Simple Green to get this nice and clean.

These next two pics are the $$ Ticket. This is the toothed cable which moves inside the Guide Tube. Old 30 year old grease really slows this down and binds the whole system. I ended up using Silicone Lubricant (spray) to get these to move nice and smooth. I bought the Silicone Lube at Home Depot. I also used it on all the parts that touch or ride on each other. HUGE Difference!! I did a test when using the switch before the Lube and after. Absolutely awesome!

Clean these bad boys too. I used Brake Cleaner, the Lubed them with Silicone.

Here's the orientation of these pieces.

Thes two bolts were fun to put back in, plus you need to make sure the washers that sit on the "other side" stay in place. Mine stayed in place with thick grease. Be patient here, you' also get your 6 pack ab's after this task.

This is a pic of the inside sunroof plate. You will need to get that all that vinyl/leather material back on the plate. I used the same adhesive I used on my Hood Liner.

Here's a couple pics of the adhesive in place. Your going to let it dry until the white becomes transparent then just press it on.

Here's a video of it all working. I LOVE MY SUNROOF!

Dano a few pointers on the roof,
I hope that you used blue loctite on the fasteners as they come loose if not.used,

also the 3 amigo screws that hold the liner in,
dont get removed only 2 turns loose,
the interior liner pulls down from them and reverse for assembly

Glad your up and running the car looks great
