ok, does anyone else know? would like to have a man. or guide to take out and to put back in,cause im not a mechanic and need all the help i can get! and it doesnt sound good either! damn car!

You've got to pull the pod to get to it. It can be a job pulling it, but even more difficult to reinstall it. It's one of those jobs you try to do once and fix everything you can while in there. It's a good time to go over your flexible circuit board and tighten all the terminal screws, and wipe away corrosion, etc..
There's a ground in there, too. You can replace your light bulbs while in there. The trickiest part is the mounting hardware for the right side, it's i two or three pieces that have to be aligned properly to allow the long screw to go back through to keep it all together. The steering wheel comes off rather easy. Don't sweat that part. You'll probably spend a lot of time upside down on your back in the floorboard. |

i dont know how to do all of that! not without a guide or something, does anyone have a printable manuel to replace that properly?
|
neil30076 says he has two of them, but i never heard back from him!

This has been going on pretty long.
I sense huge frustration on a basic issue. I've been there. Based on my experience, you really have two choices to keep sane. Either figure out how to find, search and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams and parts explosions on this car. Or punt. I think you would be happier, since not mechanically or electrically inclined at all, to punt. Give it away or junk it if you have to. Whether you fix the window or not, there is NO WAY this excursion is going to get any less frustrating for you unless you make a very deep dive into the literature. Saying this respectfully, of course, having been there. |
Not to be smart, but this is something that really isn't difficult to do. Hence, you don't need a manual or instructions to remove a couple bolts (my Euro was a 10mm and my S uses Allen heads), some screws and disconnecting 2 plug in harnesses.
Dig into it and let us know where your getting stuck. You also can't get frustrated with the easy stuff, cause your in for a treat if you do. |
Ahh, Landseer hit "Quick Reply" before I could.

I just replaced an ignition switch in my buddys VW Golf 3 - what an effin' pain in the a-hole compared to doing it on the 928!!!
|
Yeah, and just try and install a Door Lock Actuator on a 2004 BMW X5. You think the 928 Door panel is a pain, the BMW was made to drive you to the Nut house. Don't get me started on changing an Alternator on the X5 too. Grrrrrrrrrr, the bad memories are returning.
|
You will do fine...just go slow, patience and coping is appreciated by the 928!
I suggest that you move the drv seat far back. Take pic's along the way as you start taking it apart. Here is a link for a later model pod removal Rennbay.com :, it is similar to the early models. I did not take the switches out of the pod, merely allowed the pod shell to hang. I replaced the ig switch and pulled the instrument cluster to replace a bad odo gear. Check cluster lightbulbs before you take apart, r&r what is needed. Also, follow the horn pad removal...then the big nut to get the wheel off. Be careful with any harness plugs you disconnect (three to the cluster) so as to not break retaianing tabs. Jon disconnect the BAT prior |

RE: window problem, the switches sometimes get jammed by the console warpage. Or somebody sits there with their elbow on it and says, "what's that clicking in the door?" It's a tiny thermo overload cycling on and off that's built in the motor. Impossible to find. I jumpered around it, put a 5 amp fuse in that circuit. Haven't looked back.
