What exactly is the point of posting in this forum?
Why should I share my experiences with other 928ers when there's ALWAYS someone stopping in just to tell that you are full of ****, and that every improvement realized is nothing more than ****ing placebo?
It really makes me sick to have to deal with *******s that like to tell people they are full of ****.

You've pretty much described every forum out there. The work you have to do is separate the wheat from the chaff (is that the real word?) and ignore all the idiots, of which there are many, to get the advice of people who really know, which are also many. Or something.

Currently, this is the only forum I frequent where I'm consistently told that I am full of schit. The other forums I frequent, people are respectful to each other.

Wow, that's cool. Which ones? I've never seen that in forumworld. I bought my first Porsche Wednesday, just trying to get the lay of the land in this world. I'm pretty excited about it.

Seems to happen on every forum...there is a forum I used to participate in regarding a subject I am well informed on (unlike 928's). Just yesterday someone asked for an opinion on a technical issue...I spent a lot of time crafting my response, today, his response is "I don't have a clue, he is right I am wrong" etc etc.... how could I possibly be so far removed from knowledge? (he thinks brass plate stock will "warp" several (30-100) thousanths of an inch over time) Pine board? Maybe so, brass, not so much....idiots, they are everyplace, and there is no controlling them, might as well argue with a brick wall.... Illegitimi non carborundum or in the vernacular "Don't let the bastards grind you down".

Because as a newbie, Malefacio, you tried to sell back-to-back-to back snakeoil solutions and give dead-wrong advice to a bunch of engineers whose only hobby is 928 repair. What did you expect? Your opinion, or worse, rehashing marketing hype of branded snake oil vs. their known facts. Go back and read it.
But I still like ya. And I think you know a lot about the cars now.

I dont think I ever said you were full of anything, but yes you did seem to show up with the mad scientist syndrome .
Pretty much everything I have shared with you has been learned from doing the work and paying attention to details and reading the WSM many times over, plus hands on experience . Also fixing substandard repairs that POs have done to their cars. BTW I am glad that you more amenable to listening to others that may have more experience , when you first showed up it seemed that you knew it all on how to fix a Chevy... BUT you were applying that wisdom to a 928 Porsche. This isnt a good idea,^^^^^ Anyway just pay attention and you will get valuable information for free! Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year

Very well said, MrMerlin. Funny thing is, this forum gave me hell when I first came aboard about NOT running 20w50. Now I switch, and tell the forum that I finally listened, and I get told I'm full of krap. No winning here.

20W50 is good for your engine,
If you choose dino then I would suggest Valvoline if synthetic the Mobil 1 . Also there are good reports of using the Brad Penn oil it has more ZDDP than Mobil 1

^^^ That is supposed to be good.
Lets get along, everybody's different. I've gone back and read my posts, too, and there are some pretty screwed-up answers and advice coming out of my keyboard, especially early. Will probably take 4 more years for me to fix it all. Not sure I can hang that long.
