Directed 530T Window Control Module
(For those of you who do not use Rennlist, I am posting this here too)
I had been wanting one-touch or "express" up/down windows on my '84 for quite awhile but until recently I wasn't sure how to make it work. I finally found the Directed Electronics 530T Window Control Module (no affiliation) online and bought one since it recieved some good reviews and had several different features. The wiring ended up being very straightforward and easy to do but I spent a few extra hours making it look nice. I even used some of the factory style long spade terminals into the window switch connectors so no factory harness wires needed to be cut. Basically instead of the window switches directly controlling the windows, they instead signal the module to open/close the window. There are 4 small dip switches on the unit that allow you to adjust its "sensitivity" for higher or lower current draw window motors. So far I am quite pleased with the module. Tap the switch up or down, the window fully closes or opens. Tap the switch either up or down when the window is in motion and it stops at it current position. You can also hold the window switch up or down and the window will stop as soon as you let go. My favorite feature however is the automatic close/vent/open. The module has provisions for wiring to an alarm system (I have an Avital system, will post about that once I finish wiring the rest of it up) so now the windows automatically close when I lock the car with the remote control. Pressing the Aux button on the remote vents the windows about an inch or two and holding the same button for 1.5 seconds commands them fully open. ![]() ![]() ![]() If anyone is interested I will post some pics of my install or take a video of it working. I also made some notes about which wires go where in case someone is thinking about installing something similar.
