86 block into 88 engine parts, won't start

I have an '88 with the autotrans thrust seizure. I used an '86 block to rebuild it, using all the '88 parts I could. Modified the valley so the intake would fit. Had to use the '86 starter mount and flywheel as the '88 wouldn't fit on it. Got it back in the car and it won't fire. I've changed every possible sensor, jumpered fuel and ignition relays. Its not my first rodeo, but it's the first one where the bull wouldn't leave the chute! I have all the books and have traced everything, have interchanged known good control units and put mine in that car to double check. Am I gonna have to use the '86 wiring harness and computers because of the different sensor teeth inputs?

86 and 88 have differences in I think pistons, rods, and heads, which need to match or compression is way off. Flywheels have different number teeth I think as well.

85/86 have a different flywheel then S4 forget the tooth count. S4+ is when they started running a single disc clutch set up which is a larger flywheel...

As Dangler mention heads up are different, I can confirm that. Not sure about internals though. Might need to adjust the sensors gap?? that unless you need 85/86 specific sensors?

I have a bunch of S4 and 85/86 engine parts, if you need anything PM me.

Talking Parts interchanged

As stated, I only used the 4 parts from the '86 that I had to use, block, crank, flex plate, starter mount. The sensor gaps are the same, but the teeth on the sensor signal ring are a different number. This car was dead when I got it. Guess I'll check the alarm circuit this weekend, just for fun.

Checked and alarm jumper is already in place. I was hoping the guy with super expensive big built who was flaming the builder on EBAY a while back saying it wouldn't start could help :-/. He was complaining that the intake of his S4 wouldn't fit as the builder had used an early block. I'm assuming he trimmed out the mounting tangs as I did to get a fit, but the engine still would not fire. I think he was asking $23,995 for that unstarting engine.
