Selling the LEO928S 1983 928 S

My fellow 928ers. Well the time has come to sell one of my 928's. Gonna keep the Euro and sell the 1983 S. I lost motivation to finish the repairs. She'll need the tranny resealed and Torque Tube Bearings, which I have all the seals and bearings. I stopped driving it because of the TT noise, but it still semi drivable. Just can't find the time to drop the transaxle. Got my eye on a Toy hauler that I want to get before my 8 year old son doesn't want to hang with dad anymore

You guys know the history as I have pages of documentation here on what I have done to it. She passes Calif Smog without issue, which I last did in 2012. My smog guy is about a mile from me so I didn't mind driving that far even with the TT noise. It's not that loud, but loud enough for me to stop driving it.

Anyways, here are various pics of her in certain stages. I'll just need to clean it up as shes been sitting in my driveway for over 2 years. I start it up every month just to make sure the engine is still good to go. I'll put around the neighborhood about every few months. I will still have my Euro which I need to do the 3speed to 4speed Euro tranny swap, so I am not going anywhere. What do you all think she is worth?

Not sure. This is why I am asking you guys. All proceeds go towards a Toy hauler for my family, so the most I can get of course.

I was just about to take mine for a spin after fixing her and the starter froze to the fly wheel or just got stuck. I am waiting to find time to get her on stands and check out the problem.

One day we shall meet!!!!!!

Ok, I'll throw another spin on this, if I have to drop the transaxle and do the work myself, then what would you value the sale at for my first year S Model?

That should be a big help toward a sale, especially if you don't finish for a few months and try selling at other than the worst time of year to sell a car, between thanksgiving and tax refunds.

True Mike. Around tax refunds would be the best time. My hope was to get a value on non-fixed and fixed. Wasn't really wanting to do the work and giving the forum a chance to get a great deal as long as it is fair for both of us. The documentation is all here, so you know how much work was already done on it.

The hardest part for 928 owners in California is passing smog and this has been sorted and passes without issue. That value is moot if you live in another state. Still haven't decided if I will fix or not and now second guessing if I even want to sell it. Especially if it's fixed and I start driving it again

Two sides to it;

1) Fix that and some other item rises to the top of the list.

2) TT noise makes some people crazy, so fixing it could be a big help to selling.

Put family time first, but if you get a chance better to work on the 928 than wife's do list. Gotta fix this "to get it sold" could smooth it over.

LOL, In i don't know how many years i have never agreed or disagreed with Mike, but on this i definitely agree - words to live by - 'Gotta fix this "to get it sold" ' even if it never gets sold

I think there is somebody else in SD trying to put together a tech session for a WP/TB job. Set this job up as a tech session, get the car fixed, maybe teach a few folk something they didn't know.

If you were in DFW or close, I know I'd be there to help.

I am sure there are lots of folks who will give you what they think your vehicle is worth. Perhaps the question to ask yourself is "What do I think my vehicle is worth?"
