So about a year ago I pulled my engine and replaced a litany of parts (TB/WP, cam chain tensioner pads, seals, gaskets, rebuilt injectors, etc...). I had planned to put it all back together then work sor of got in the way. I took a few days off last week and put it back together but I cannot remember (or figure out) where these two electrical connectors go. I know I should know, but it's been a while. :-). I appreciate any assistance.
The first is a single connector at the front of the engine. The second is a two wire connector at the back. Looks like the same connector as the injectors but is not. ![]() ![]() |

Not familiar with an 87, but could the first plug/wire pictured be for your A/C compressor electric clutch.
The second plug pictured, might this be for something on your air filter housing? Just guessing here, good luck. Brian. |

AC compressor is correct.
I believe the second is for the IAC valve that is under the intake. |

Thank you. You are correct. I found a write up from David Chamberlan which had a good description of the wire connection to the IAC. As for the AC wire, the PO had routed another wire from the pressure switch so it was not connected. I just took too long between taking it apart and putting it all back together. The PO also wired the TB tension sensor wire directly to ground at the dipstick mount. The good news is all of my hunting around identified this "disconnect" as well.
I was going to start it this weekend but ended up dropping the tank to drain the 4 yr old gas and to replace the tank screen, the fuel filler insert (way corroded) and the fuel filter. Should have it running this coming weekend. |
