Sox, if you need more stock wastegates to play with, let me know. I have 2 of them sitting in my garage right now.

hey sox i was digging through old posts and found this relevant one to what you are doing here:
One of the best MODS I have done which was linked from this one (and has another link): Tail vs. LR Dual Port Wastegate?? just trying to keep everything in one place so it's easier to find in the future.

Thanks Nize, I already saw the above threads...
I am now working on the tial gate. Need to fab some parts, but first I need to convert my el cheapo AC welder to a Dc welder. Sox. ![]()

Got the new waste gate installed. With the new electronic controls...
Test run: The orange line is "Boost On" this is the command from the KLR and the new electronics to the 4 port valve. ![]()

100.2 percent boost! doesn't that violate the laws of physics or something? or is your welding that amazing? can you weld a sway bar bracket for me?

Nize it's a on off signal so boost on or off...the number is just an indicator. So high number is on low number is off.
I could try, my welder is a low power el cheapo so welding any thing thicker than 0.25" is iffy. If want me to send it to me. Pm me. Sox

So on this old mater...
Here is my turbine inlet to MAP pressure ratio. line 1 is before getting on the throttle . Line 2 is map is at atmospheric, notice the ratio dropped to little over 1:1. It was as high as 9 when the car was in vacuum. Line 3 is 100% throttle. Ratio is about 1:1.5 Line 4 is getting to full boost, ratio is about 1:2 it stays there for the whole period till I got off the gas. Line 5 is back to idle. Time ticks in the x axis are 0.1sec (100ms). Pressure is in KPA on the y axis. EXP is turbine inlet pressure. Sox ![]()

Rethinking the above, I should use the pressure at the banjo bolt rather then the MAP.

Thx Nize,
running an aftermarket aluminum Diverter. Checks out. Holds vacuum 22 in for multiple hours. Pressure side holds 20 psi with about 15 or so psi on the sense tube. Releasing the pressure on the sense tube vents the pressure side with a big whoosh. Still looking .... Sox

Removed the graphs from the above post as the ratio graph was incorrect

Ok let me try again...
![]() The Loss in the IC and throttle body (Mloss)appears to be about 2.5 psi (17KPA). The output from the Turbo levels off (TRB), but the exhaust pressure (EXP) continues to go up?? The exhaust to turbo outlet ratio is around 1:2.5 when the boost from the turbo levels out, but as the exhaust pressure keeps going up with no further increase in boost the ratio gets as high as 1:3. I don't quite understand why the turbo's output is nice and smooth (TRB) the Manifold pressure seems to be jumpy (MAPc) ?? Any comments enlightenment would be welcome. Thx Sox

i'd think the exhaust continues to climb because the RPM increases.

Would that not also increase the turbo's output too?

no, otherwise it will explode.
![]() the turbo is probably hitting its max output so it's done. time to get a bigger turbo!
