Rear hatch RATTLE, not squeek, I have both...
squeek is the seal: needs more leather oil to quiet. But I have a rattle as well, sounds like it's coming from the top of the hatch: very annoying: common? remove panels & find out or is it someting that always rattles??

the rattle is there whether the roof is raised or flat, & pressing on it while driving does little to stop it, but it might not be that simple of a rattle too.

If it is the rear hatch sound like delamination of the glass from the frame. There are degrees of fix - from complete R&R to stop gaps like flowable silicone. Does it leak during the rain?

No leak, just rattle. Don't see any delamination upon inspection, though it appears my tint is starting to peel at the top edges...great.

I have been here, There are two latches that hold your hatch in place. Because the Car is kind of old these catches have worn out.
In my case the stud that actually sticks down into the catch rusted and broke. These parts are relatively cheap(The studs I mean). However it could just be an adjustment. The catches themselves can be adjusted or shimmed to tighten up the fit. The studs can also be moved in or out....unless they are rusted like mine. But if the rattle is happening when you go over a bump or railroad tracks and your positive that its not coming from the roof( which also goes out of adjustment.....plastic gears are CRAP!) then the adjustment on those catches would be the first place to look. |

My hatch latch studs appear solid & working, I can see the cutter-M8 bolt coming up through the hinges when the hatch is open, & there's no shimmy-ing when the hatch is open.
I need to ride in the back of my car over bumps, see if I can pin point it. ![]()

Have you tried lifting up and down on the spoiler to see if there is any play because if there is even a little it will amplify off the back glass and will be loud in the front seat. When you push the hatch button does it pop up like its supposed to or do you have to wiggle it.....that will be a tell tale sign as well. It took me a number of weeks of adjusting....riding....adjusting....cont... to get it right there were a number of times I would adjust it a little to much and it wouldnt make a noise until I went over a big bump and the hatch would fly up while I was driving down the road......One of the manytimes my car has made me look bad....but it makes me look so good too.
