DME TEMP Sensor

Hey just wondering....

I have heard that a bad DME temp sensor can cause your car to run pretty rough...I have a rough Idle and all of a sudden recently the main fan has been coming on alot and My temp guage reads fine and its not always really hot out when it happens. Just wondering... anyone know what the resistance should read on the sensor to know if its good or not....also where is it located on a late turbo car?

This is for the engine computer temp sensor. Temperature sensor II (engine) is mounted to the engine, under the throttle body.

Notes

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Resistance @ 0°C (32°F) 4.4K - 6.8K ohms

Resistance @ 15 - 30°C (59 - 86°F) 1.4K - 3.6K ohms

Resistance @ 40°C (104°F) 1.0K - 1.3K ohms

Resistance @ 80°C (176°F) 250 - 390 ohms

Resistance @ 100°C (212°F) 160 - 210 ohms

air temp ntc is inside the vaf, and you can measure its resistance on pins 1and4 (outer pins) of vaf connector. I don't have exact values with me now, but few days ago when i measured it , reading was something like 1700-1800 ohm, on aproximately 25-30 C ambient.

but, from my expirience with 944/951, those sensors rarely go bad...
when they go bad, they will mostly affect mixture, which you can check on your lamda probe connector, and in some situations when it is really rich, black smoke is visible from the exaust.
it would have to be really rich to cause rough idle, and black smoke shoud be visible in that case...
