would a bad turbo BOV/bypass valve cause this?

the AF is low, about 12.8 at idle and cruising, sometimes it is even less (it was 13.8 at idle not too long ago) and it seems to take a while for the boost level to peak. it is totally annoying. TIA.

huh, nobody has an opinion/idea.

well, i took the damn thing out (BOV) and blew into both ports (not the vacuum port) and it definitely passes air. then, i reinstalled it. the car was running at about 12.7AFM prior to playing with the BOV (all of the A/F mixture readings listed are at idle). after playing with it, the mixture was reading at 13.4. later, it was reading at about 12.7AFM. i tapped the BOV with a screwdriver handle and it immediately jumped to 13.4. i am ordering a new BOV right now.

i received the BOV via fedex today. i really like it: robust, rebuildable, and good quality. after installing it and getting the car up to temp, driving it for a few minutes, the A/F went to about 13.6. the spool up seemed much smoother, as well.

perhaps a bad BOV might be the cause for some of the emissions failures.....

huh, paulyy's post, which i received via email, has simply disappeared.

anyway, the fix was easy and the car drives totally different, both accelerating and decelerating. i am very pleased.
