Rate my rust
I'm making some progress on the car and wanted to poll the veterans in here, so I can figure out the best way to move forward. On a scale of 1-10, how bad would you consider this? In your opinions, how would you approach this? I know very little about bodywork, so I'm not sure on what's possible. I appreciate the advice!

8.75 out o 10. The windshield needs to be removed and the material excised and new metal welded in place. The rest needs to be addressed one at a time. Some of it might be able to be wire brushed and coated with a rust encapsulating paint. i would also replace all or as needed, brake, oil and fuel lines if it is this rough shape.
Was this car sitting in brackish water for any period of time? Other concerns are the ABS module. Usually when I see rust like this the module is toast. The connections get wet and the pins rip out of the unit when the harness is removed. being a C2 it is a less expensive problem than if it were. C4. C2 ABS brains are cheap in comparison. Shocks look as though they could be changed by now if they are original which they appear to be.

My fear is how much more rust is there hidden...
If you take that car apart you will be negatively surprised I think there is a lot more. Sorry

No doubt it will grow but it can be repaired. It all depends on how much you're willing to put into it.

Hi
Which countries(s) has the car been operated in ? Operated in the Winter on salted roads ? Road salt will strip off Zinc plating very quickly followed by crusty rust. Remove rusty parts and blast and re zinc plate or replace with new parts. Cheers |
