964 on-board computer problem
My '93 C2 has Tip, so it has the on-board trip computer. The OBC seems to be functioning okay, but recently, the LED has become so dim that I can't see it clearly in daylight.
Anyone out there have a fix? Thanks, Bill Stewart |

The lightbulb that backlights the LED display is burned out.
The tachometer will need to come out to fix this. Usually, you have to remove the airbag and steering wheel to remove the tach. Once the tach is out. Some models had the light bulb in the back. Others had the bulb internal to teh tach. North Hollywood speedometer is your best bet if the bulb is internal. AFJ

Had a similar problem with my OBC. It wasn't the light bulbs but something on the circuit board that prevented the bulbs from working.
Sent it down to Hollywood Speedometer and they fixed it for $125. I was told that they see this happen when you jump a dead battery. A sudden surge of electricy fried a resistor or something on the board. The advice from Hollywood is to remove the battery and have it charged at a gas station. Not too convienent if you are stuck somewhere and need a quick jump. Do it at your own risk I guess. Ron 93 C2 Guards Red
