my 964 project

As those of you that know me from this forum are aware, I've spent a great deal of the summer working on my old red 964, which has since found a good home.

Since it was sold, I've turned my focus to my other 964. I came to own this car very much by chance. It needed a lot of work but had a manual steering rack and cross suspension.

So I made a deal to buy the car with plans to work on it once my other car was sold. The cars engine was very strong and frankly the better known of the two cars I had, so I sold it with the red car. The red car having needed a clutch and other work, I had to have the drivetrain on the ground anyway.

So now I've gotten the white car nearly back together. I want to thank my friend Brent for the use of his shop and lift and for all his help. There is no way any of this cool project would have happened without his support.

Here are some shots of the car. She's got new BBS wheels and new tires. Fresh paint and ton of other work. I am waiting on the paint guy to finish the bumpers and rockers.

The car will have 935 mirrors so the door mirrors were removed.

she'll have B&B exhaust, dual exit muffler, etc. we replaced all the oil lines that needed to be replaced, all seals, etc.

there is ton of work left to do, my hope is that the paint work is finished soon so that the car can get back together.

Nice!, I always liked white.

You can shave some weight from the bumpers

If you are going to track it you will want another oil cooler, now is the time to put it on.

thanks Bill, how much lbs do you think you save from drilling the bumpers?

I am going to track it, yes, but it will also be a daily driver so the a/c stays, but all the sound deadner has been pulled out, and I've put recaro's in the car and ditched the heavy power seats.

Great project!

It's a well known fact that White cars have more HP from the factory.

Dunno, every bit helps, especially at the ends

I had one on order from early in the summer from Ruf, they never could delievered, I asked the Pelican crew who weren't any help either. Finally bought from Gert, 2wk delievery, the current state of the euro is a killer, you don't want to know the cost.

IF you don't mind scrounging a bit some have used a second stock cooler mounted on the drivers side. Usually no AC though

Yes, that what I did. Mounts nicely in the A/C location.

I have a badge sticker on the front of my track car. The part number is WAP-013-002 (Decal-Crest Med.) My local dealer told me that is the same sticker used on the hood of the 996 GT3 RS.
