Key fob addon questions???

Hi all, this is my first query from the group since joining up. I know I've seen some articles regarding the installation of a remote key fob to add to the existing alarm setup for those early year 964s such as mine. Does anyone have any feedback as to what they used and how easy was it to install on their own. I would really like to make locking the car easier than using my key. Guess I'm being a bit lazy.

do a search for remote or transmitter rather than keyfob.
there are several great postings for a very inexpensive product you can find on ebay,
the postings also include an excellent DIY.
I did mine a few months ago, took about 30 minutes!
Works great, under $30, super upgrade!

Gizmofixer, thanks for the response. Could you tell me the manufacture and model of the one you bought? I want to see what additional features it offers. The DIY you refer to, I guess it will require rewiring the module under the passenger seat right? Hopefully I can duplicate your efforts. Thanks again for the input.

Thanks 911Urge for the link, that is what I'm looking for. Found some of the keyless remote systems on e-bay for a fair price. If anyone else has some other remote systems they have used with their 964s please let me know so I can get the best options for the money. Thanks again 911Urge.

993's are different. There is a good thread over on Rennlist that covered a 95 993

Well, I followed the instructions and ordered the Valet Model 712t off of Ebay and got it in the mail yesterday. So I went by the instructions and looked for the Alarm Control unit on my car, here's what I discovered. My Alarm control unit is # 928 637 104 05. The only thing is it's located in the far right corner of the trunk compartment behind the hinge along the right fender wall. The locking control unit # 911 618 113 01 is located underneath the dash in the right floor compartment area. At this point access to the alarm seems to be impossible without taking the lid off or maybe the right fender.

Has anyone else attempt this procedure to install the 712t with their alarm system configured this way. Biggest issue for me is since the models are different then the other instructions I've read, I'm not sure if wire colors will be the same or not.

Anyone have any suggestions where I can tap into to make this thing work?

For 89-90 964's dont bother hooking into the alarm as you have discovered its a PITA to access. Read my post at the following link

Remote locks for a 93?

I mounted the 712t unit in the trunk and ran power off the battery and was able to snake the wires thru a hole in the firewall from a prior stereo install.

Thanks for the feedback 911Urge. I will attempt to get this thing in operation next week based on your instructions. For now I have to go traveling for the rest of the week. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
