964 Carrera 4 FWD converion... who has done it?

Has anyone done a RWD converion to a 964? I know it's more than just a few driveshafts. Any summery of the work performed? Any parts needed? Thanks

I'd recommend doing a search on Rennlist in the 964 forum. Several have done it over there.
It's not as simple as removing components. The electronics must be addressed also, correct bassam?

Joel Reiser did a nice 2 part piece in the April and May 2007 issues of 'Pano', if you are a PCA member back issues might be available, the May issue has the nitty gritty of how to do it, the April is more background

I left the electronics alone, removing them will affect the ABS, oil lines that feed the transmission and solenoids have to be deleted. its cheaper to sell and buy a c2!

Not sure you need the G50 trans. I have seen the 993 guys cut the tail on the main shaft and change the tail cone.

the 4wd system on 993 is a completely different system than 964, viscous vs torque tube, much easier to modify on 993 to a 2wd.

I see you have done it. How much was yours just in parts. I would do all the labor. This is going to be a dd for a year or two then a track whore.

the price of a g50, in my case I paid $5000, another 5k for GT gears with close ratios (made the car faster than my 997s on the track, with STOCK engine!) new axles, new RS clutch/flywheel, new clutch slave cylinder, flywheel sensor and bracket, new starter as my car is1989 and the starter is different, (ckeck for prices on pelican) shifter bracket (you can make your own or order one from germany around $200) shifter linkage $150 on fleabay. You might loose your speedometer depending where your car gets its signal from.
