Fog & Reverse Lights Not Working

On my 92 911 C2 Cabrio, the fog lights and reverse lights have stopped working. When I turn the key on the (!) light is on in the dash. I can cancel it with the switch on the center console but when I pull the hand brake it goes on again. They seem to have stopped working when I removed the convertible top module to have it resoldered. To do this I had to remove the central indicator module that is bolted on top of it. I also replaced the cardboard/metal spring heater ducts in the kick panels on both sides of the car.

The #14 fuse in the fuse box is good and has 12v. The relay in R01 clicks when the ignition switch is turned on. The relay at R31 doesnt do anything. Ive swapped the relays around and they all work in the R01 slot. The bulbs in the fog lights are good. I have not checked the reverse lights yet. The foglight switch lights up when the headlights turn on. The wiring on the drivers side in the area of the top module and the heater ducts appear to go into the door.

Is there a connection or ground I may have damaged doing the repairs to the heater ducts and the top module? Any other ideas? Thanks

Eric

Eric,

Not sure if the 964's are the same as the 993's in this regard, but I had a similar problem. The solution here solved it for me: 95 993 Backup Lights no work - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Basically, bend the relay prongs for a better fit...

I bent the lugs on the bottom of the relay as per the last post and nothing. I also swapped out the central indicator module with another and no change. I removed the rear center light panel and have no voltage at the plug.

Questions- The R01 relay clicks the moment you turn the ignition key. Is this normal?

I dissasembled the foglight switch, cleaned and lubed it up just right, now the fog lights work again! Going to do the same with the reverse light switch on the transmission this weekend.
