Removing E-Brake Handle - easy?

Is there an article or instructions on removing the e-brake handle? I want a different look, and want to know if this is a DIY swap? Thanks.

It is a DIY, but it is time consuming and will require a few "not so common tools" I'm going from memory here, so I cannot guarantee that I didn't forget anything, but This should get you well on your way.

Tools Needed:

2 x 13mm wrenches
3.8ths socket wrench with 6" extension
E-10 or E-12 torx socket
T-30 torx driver.
13mm socket

Steps:

1. Disconnect battery

2. Disconnect all power seat wiring and remove the drivers seat - you will need a torx E-10 or E-12 socket to remove the four bolts that hold the seat down.

3. Remove shifter knob (it pulls off), all trim pieces located on center console (they just pull off), ashtray, and anything in your storage box.

4. You will see the P-brake adjuster under the storage box (looks like a half circle with two cables wrapped around it, and a threaded shaft going the the longitudinal center of the half circle.. Note the location of the two nuts on the threaded shaft and mark their locations. Undo and remove the two nuts (with your two 13mm wrenches)

5. Use a torx t-30 screwdriver to remove all of the screws securing the center console to the car. Remove center console. Note, there are about 8 or 10 screws holding the center console on. They are hidden under things like the coin holder in the storage box. DO NOT force the center console off - if it does not lift off freely, look for another screw. Use care with the window switch holder. Note which wire is which and disconnect them. You disconnected the P-brake cables first to make it easier to remove the console - you can move the P-brake handle where you need it to be.

You can now use your 13mm socket to undo the 4 nuts holding the P-brake handle t the car.

Installation is the reverse of removal.
