Just kidding, nice looking exhaust.

Can you pull one of the coil on plugs and check for spark at 2 or 7 with a spare spark plug?

Nice build!

The exhaust looks to get very close to the rear tire and the alternator. Make sure you shield it, so it doesn't cook those components.

When are you going to fire it up?

Can you switch some coilpacks with cylinders that are firing and see if the problem follows the coilpacks?

I did give that a try and the same problem, even checked the Hi/Low with a signal meter and still seem to get a pulse, not as frequent as the others so something is not right in either the timing or PCM program.

I have an LS6 intake I am going to swap out this weekend with a new set of injectors to see if I have any better luck.

Was also warned the the aluminum Typhoon intake would cause heat soak so considering the heavier weight and heat soak that is 2 strikes against it..

Will keep you posted

Todd,
For a few $ you can get a noid like to check that the injectors are being pulsed. If you are smelling raw fuel, I suspect you are getting fuel and not getting spark.

I'd bet it is the harness itself (can you pull the coil pack and ground an extra spark plug and see what happens? A good way to test would be to pull the fuel pump fuse, so it won't run and you are not dumping raw fuel.

Unless each coil has a driver within the ECU? If so, maybe the driver circuitry is dead on two cylinders.

New Years Update:
Received my new throttle body and LS6 intake last weekend and got around to installing. Does not have the bling factor of the previous aluminum Typhoon intake but much lighter and a better fit.

Unfortunately the pre existing problem has followed and the car still does not rev past 2K and smells rich with fuel. I am convinced that it has to be the programming in the PCM and needs to be tuned and diagnosed by a professional. Car starts every time and ideals just fine so I do not think it is anything major. Possibly could be an issue with the Mass Flow sensor as well.

Bad news is I will leave for China on the 5th and will not get to work on the car till I return in April

Hi rakednstretched, that is actually a photo of my car while I was setting the motor/tranny position. I'll grab the dimensions for you and post them tomorrow.

dimensions

Here is a photo that shows the clearance. It is about 3.125 inches between the back of the block and the frame. I have a short 930 tranny, so I could not move the motor any further forward that what you see here. I would be curious to see the clearance that other LS powered 911's have.

The RH motor mounts allow a lot of movement front to back to accommodate different tranny/chassis combos.

Yea, I would say 3.125 looks about right, I remember how close the 90 degree elbows come to the frame. Not much room at all and I am running a 915 tranny.

I have seen on other sites smaller adapter plates made for after market water pumps.

distance

if a person could reduce the size of the renegade water outlets and elbows to 1.5 inches would this allow a person to use a longbell 930 transaxlw rather than a shortbell one? in other words how much is trimmed off a long bell to convert the length to a shortbell?

alternate water pump adapter

One option would be to take this Meziere Block Adapter (WP89U) and find a very low profile 90 elbow (threaded) or weld an elbow to it. You could easily save an inch over the RH setup.

I am just finishing my own block adapters... similar to RH but will have tig welded on barbs for hose and water will exit away from the rear crossmember. should allow and extra inch 30 to 35 mm. Will change hose routing some but not a big deal. Very simple to machine part... Thanks for the accurate confirmation!

I would also be very interested in the Long case 930 answer! Some other PP members seem to say one inch...

Shorten a 930 Tranny - What is involved?

Wow I can not believe it has been 1 year since my first posting of my build. Over 30K views and tons of knowledge and shared information.

As I sit here in Shanghai looking at the progress of of the builds from Rebel911, Mkingham and Mbaran I am starting to get motivated again and am now determined to get my LS1 conversion finished when I return in April

For those following the post and considering such a build or in the process of their own build below are some images not posted before that may help determine the level of difficulty.

I also must give credit to my master mechanic:

My Daughter Reena Notice the 12mm wrench in hand with grease and oil on her fingers and face, A proud moment of being a father but at the same time scary knowing that one day she will want a Porsche as well

Reminds me of my daughter, filipino (me) and the rest German/Irish, when she was that age with me wrenching on my black 74.

Keep the shotgun handy, dad.

Cheers,

Joe

and thanks for the exhaust pictures I was just starting to think about that.
