Good question! It's been a number of years since the fake 406 was offered for sale. I have not seen it offered anywhere so it is most likely still underground. I suppose there is a possibility it was parted out but am assuming that has not been done.

I have documentary proof from the Japanese registration authorities that my #406, was continuously registered in Japan from August 1977
to March 2005. A copy of this document is attached to my summary.

So are you saying/thinking that his dad may have owned it somewhere between '73 and '77?
