What is an Average SC Price this Summer?
Last spring I bought my SC for a good price. Out of curiosity, I did some poking around today. It looks like SCs are up to around $17K+ on average this year - a pretty significant increase. I mainly looked at higher mileage cars with no rust and rebuilt engines - not perfect examples.
Are they really up that much in price? Here are some columns from my research spreadsheet from April 2012. Code:
Year Model Price Location 1979 Targa 12000 Raleigh, NC 1981 Targa 13000 Los Angelos, CA 1981 Targa 11900 Philadelphia, PA 1981 Targa 8500 Raleigh, NC 1980 Coupe 13000 Lexington Park, MD 1983 Cab 12500 North Chicago 1979 Targa 9500 Minneapolis 1982 Targa 12500 Washington DC 1982 Targa 12900 Phoenix, AZ 1978 Targa 12500 Austin, TX 1980 Targa 14000 Dallas, TX 1982 Targa 14200 Atlanta, GA 1979 Coupe 12500 Fairport, NY 1978 Targa 11000 Middleton, MA 1980 Targa 11500 Los Gatos, CA 1983 Targa 13900 Overland Park, KA 1984 Targa 12500 LA, CA 1981 Targa 12950 Denver, CO

Well, these orientationlists are that much worth as the belief you give it.
An SC is that much worth as to what a buyer is ready to pay for. But compared to Germany, a good SC even for max 20k is a bargain ;-) |

A rising tide lifts all boats. A good SC is a bargain at $20k. As early 911's continue to increase in value, lots of folks who are now priced out of the early car market have turned to SC's as a reasonable alternative.

Nice list, thanks for sharing it as it gives a reasonable idea of where the market was and where it's going.

Paid $19,000 for a very clean 1983 Coupe. I will put another $10,000 into it upgrading A/C (big job), replacing dash, exhaust, suspension adjustment, as well as miscellaneous minor long term maintenance items, a full engine service and clutch adjustment. (I am a check book mechanic and prioritize results of work quality as well as price) this will have me into the car complete for $30,000 +. the car should then be a very complete daily driver.

I know a few sold for around 17-19k, it's mixed sometimes you can move into a 3.2 for a few bucks more. I know a 1984 Targa for 18k, 1986 Cab for 22k...good buys....but much searching
