Weissach value?
For starters, I'm not looking to sell.
I'm a former Alfa/Fiat tech, owned a shop for a bunch of years doing Italian service and restoration, even some exotic stuff. Did grey market conversion work during college in the 80s which is when I fell in love with a Minerva Blue ROW 911 SC. Bought my first 944 six years ago, and knew I better jump on a 911 while I could still afford it. I got this '80 SC Weissach back in September. It has 87K miles on the clock, pop off valve, updated tensioners, new A/C compressor, converted to 134a and blows cold. The Fuchs are 16", I did not get the original 15"s with the car. Front seats have a fair bit of surface cracking, otherwise the interior is quite good. Paint is all original, it has some pretty significant rock chipping on the front and general tiredness. No rust, no accidents. Tools and books came with it, some service records, but far from complete. Head studs checked out fine, leakdown was 3% to 6%. I've fixed a couple of oil and vacuum leaks, done engine mounts and shifter bushings, and the car runs great. Tires only a year old with less than 1000 miles on them. Best I can figure I'm 4th owner, and other that the 16" Fuchs and maintenance items the car is completely original. For those who care to play along, what do you think of value? To make it fun, once we have some knowledgeable opinions, I'll post what I paid. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

With that low mileage, you're hovering around $20,000, possibly more depending on the quality of the paint and leather in person. Love the color.

Some people will pay more for a Weissach. Just because it is a Weissach. The car does need some love, but MrBonus is pretty close, IMO.

I wonder if PML has a new sock.
I don't have much of a feel about the demand for Weissach cars. Kind of like the CE, cosmetic only "special editions" don't generally give much of a value bump, other than they tend to be more interesting colors. The grey with red piping and red carpet is not a look that has aged that well. Reminds me of a post-85 Alfa Quadrifoglio interior. I would aim higher if I were looking to sell it -- $24-26k or sell, and hope to settle in the $23-24k range. But given the slight air of smugness in your post, I bet you paid closer to $14k for it. ![]()

I sold my Weissach a couple years ago for $25k, but it had a fresh motor, fresh paint and fresh leather. Mileage was 80k.

Nice car. I really like the colorway, even though I'm not a huge fan of metallic paint. Weissach will certainly add to the value for some, but in reality the only things special are the paint, interior and tail.
The car has fairly low mileage (if documented) and you mention the things enthusiasts look for, I consider that a big plus. My rough estimate... 25k on eBay. I would pay 20k if I was looking. (I'm still coming to terms with the recent surge in values) The metallic paint is difficult to touch up nicely and the interior looks a little tired. You could dye the seats, but the driver's seat piping would need addressed as well. List it here for 25, eBay for 28 and entertain a serious buyer over 20. BTW, if your do put it up for sale, clean the seats (gently) as best you can and center the dash vents. The way they sit now it makes it look as if the dash has shrunken which is is 1-2k to a buyer who knows what they're looking at... and remove the clear mats.

It's always difficult to assess value on a few pictures, especially with admitted wear on the seats and rock chips, which may or may not be significant in person. I'm honestly not sure how much value is lost by not having the original wheels and perhaps my estimate was a bit low.

Thanks for the input all. I have wanted a 911 for 30 years, and I'll likely keep it until I'm not driving anymore. The cosmetics will be properly addressed, and the mechanicals will be properly maintained. I may have gotten the last, really great deal on an SC. $12,000. Thanks for playing along.

Generally I like them sans tail, but that was a part of the Weissach package, so it will remain.
