2014 Panamera 4S Coolant Overflow

New to me 2014 Panamera 4S. Just pick up my first Panamera (all 911 up to this point) yesterday and after a long drive home (mostly highway) there was a strong coolant smell from outside the car - not inside, and couldn't smell in the engine compartment. But the smell was strong outside the car. After the car cooled down, I checked the coolant level and it was pegged at the max. I'm hoping the smell is due to an overflow hose and not the other more serious issues - coolant pipe to thermostat, etc - that I've read about. The coolant temp is perfect with no warning lights when driving. After sitting overnight, I didn't see any obvious signs of coolant leaking and there are no puddles under the car, or in the tray under the engine. I removed the plastic engine cover and don't see any signs of coolant pooling on top of the engine. And there is no smell now that the engine is cold. So - my question, is there an overflow/vent valve of some kind that could be dumping excess coolant in the system? Any idea how to safely remove excess coolant. One other piece of the puzzle, maybe, is the ACC wasn't working. It was the camera in the front bumper. Reading the notes on the work order, they replaced the camera and "broken air box". This is all in front of the radiator and I assume they may have have to remove the bumper cover for the air box issue ... and perhaps even the camera. Perhaps any coolant line behind there they may have broken? Thanks in advance!

Update

I'm cautiously optimistic ... after several cold checks of the coolant level and it being pegged at the max level, I burped the system and removed some coolant with a syringe. There is just a faint smell now after a 50 mile trip ... and that may be from a little bit of coolant that spilled when I removed it. I also have a new cap coming for good measure. So looks like PO just overfilled the coolant.

* Also for anyone that finds this and is trying to research coolant issues for the Panamera after the 970.2 update, especially 2014 which seems to be the transition, my 4S has the bolt on coolant connections to the thermostat housing. Not sure if this was from factory or previous owner did as an update - but looks like an older installation.
