Car looks great.
How about pics of the inside and engine compartment.

As far as the backup lights.
That is one good idea.
The two small white lights on the front of the light could work in the rear as well.
I also thought about hanging a light kind of like the single rear fog light you sometimes see on cars.
Maybe not as clean a solution, but you could easily remove it until next time the car needs to pass inspections for street legality.
I'm assuming no policeman would ever stop a car for not have a backup light?!?!?!

Cool project.

Why not recess a small LED panel into the bumper for the reverse lights. White LED panels or strips would be cheap.

I made my own flip up hinges too. They work great - I didn't want to pay that much for them either.

my r replica doesnt have back-up lites, however i'm in florida and when i registered the car it wasnt an issue.

on the fronts you have the parking lite only and are missing the orange turn signal lite. A pic is attached of mine front set-up.

my opinion on the rear hinges: if you dont install the original style r hinges, i would leave it alone as you said.

by the way, the cars looks like its coming along nicely!

goldsc78258,
I vote for NO, backup lights. And NO hinges, unless you can get
some hinges that look correct.

Project really looks good. Keep us posted.

RRico,
Wow, I love your car. Do you have a high quality front/rear 3/4
picture of your car. I checked you link and the details are great
but I would like to have a full view of your car.
Thanks

Gumba, I liked your idea better, did you drill a hole on the lamp and set up the led? it looks nice and clean

I vote no on the hinges but is up to him

JP do you have a picture of the hinges that you made? where they hard to make?

RRico your car is really I mean REALLY nice, I wish we had the bidget to do a project like that. The car was blue and we painted it back to it's original color Yellow

The Engine is the original 2.4 MFI he said that they installed "E" cams on it but I'm not sure. I want to do something with the air filter maybe rain guards like on the webbers ore something different with the original filter. Any ideas?

The interior has recaro seats, retractable seatbelts and rs carpet and panels, radio delete and everything else is prety much stock

Thanks everybody I'll post some more pictures tomorow

Looks good.
If it has to pass a visual to get street legal then do the back ups where you have marked themout. otherwise no.
the hinges without looking up close look OK.
At one time someone on this board made some out of titanium and sold a bunch to other members they looked real nice and would look very cool.

Luv that R look. Doin good... keep us posted. Looks like a Texas long hood gathering needs to be in the near future. My long hood project got a little wider.

But at the end of the day, we're all Texas long hoods.

Yes, pretty straight forward. I got the lamps from an on-line motorcycle shop. They were about $10 ea. Here is the link.

They make 911R rear light clusters with backup lights in them. Why not buy a set and sell the ones he has on Ebay? Sure it will cost a little but with all the time, effort, and money he must have in the car now, why cheap out on something so small?

Same thought applies to the hinges. Why do all that beautiful work and end up with something that makes it all look tacky? Do it right!

I have exactly the same set up as BBII.

Rico, where did you get the 911R front guards?

Bryan,

I dont have any good shots yet. I dont take the 911 out that
often, so next time I will get some good pics and post.

Fishcop,

I dont know what you mean by "front guards", however if you
mean the bumpers, all my fiberglass parts such as bumpers,
fenders (wings), hood, engine lid are from GT Racing (the best!).

goldsc,

thanks. it's taken about a year and a half to this point, however
still working on more minor details.

I forgot to post a pic of my rear lights below.

Where did the pictures go? Why did you edit your first post? There is a discussion on the car here:
