They came off the 964RS that Geoffrey is restoring to factory spec., they aren't legal in PCA GTC1. Almost got the unobtainable aluminum hubs that went w/ them but someone woke up at the last minute and decided to hang on to them.

They are built very solid and have not budged after 12 or so track days, including 4 revolutions and an off at 100mph...

You might ping tyson on it, I know he really likes them. Gives you great flexibility in setup, so long as the folks doing the setup are very familiar with them.

While the 964 rear differs from the 993, I'm very happy with the Smart Racing/ERP suspension stuff I have now. I also have the 993 EVO uprights. The combo of the EVO uprights with appropriate tie rods and switching to full monoballs front and rear has worked wonders on the car's driveability. It used to dart all over under heavy braking (front and rear). Getting rid of all the flexability from the rubber parts and getting parts that are designed for a very low car has helped a huge amount.

Yes, if you watch a stock 964 or 993 in a corner you can see the suspension deflection. It' very obvious and I suspect at least part of the cause of some of the negative handling reports that are occasionally bandied about.

Mine is good, but could certainly be better hence the suspension change.

The reason for the uprights is to correct bumpsteer at lowered ride height

Hey Bill,
Did you see the latest copy of 911& Porsche World?
A fellow in the UK built a 993RS replica and discusses some of the unique aspects of the setup.

Yes, I have that issue. He's selling the car.

Don, you just did the bak right? Did you put monoballs on the rear A arms?

Any maintainance issues? NVH on the way to a track day?

Yes, just the kinematic, toe and upper links.

No, stock A Arms in the rear.

Zero maintenance. I have paint stripes on the nuts, never a budge.

Hard to separate NVH, my car rides like a radio flyer on a steep hill. But in general, none that I would think to attribute to the ERP links. I'd say I have zero handling issues, no vibration, plenty of noise though (though none from the links, just the lack of insulation, monoballs)!

They are beauties:

They are beauties and believe it or not they are the cheaper alternative to the RS parts. Buying stuff in Germany is killing me.

What's the difference in the 993RS rear components? ...what do they improve over stock ones?

all street cars have rubber between the suspension and the chassis. The rubber isolates the chassis form nvh.

a pure race car will have solid monoballs in place of the rubber. This provides for a more precise interaction between the chassis and the road at the expense of increased nvh and maintainance.

the RS components are an intermediate step, utilizing a less compliant rubber to bush the suspension components. You get more precise interaction and yet nvh is still well controlled.

Additionally the oem and RS rubber bushes are set and for get items, they will eventually wear out but that day is a long way off, monoballs aren't zero maintenance items

Bill -- thx... I was thinking more in terms of different parts that change geometry to improve performance. like the gt2/rs front hubs.

Camber plates

EVO uprights

Fully adjustable suspension struts

ERP adjustable rear suspesion arms like Don has
